Sichuan dialect is broken. Sichuan dialect, also known as Bashu dialect, belongs to southwest mandarin of Chinese. Today's Sichuan dialect was formed during the migration of Huguang into Sichuan during the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. It was formed by the gradual evolution and integration of the Sichuan dialect popular in Sichuan before the Ming Dynasty and the immigrant dialects in Huguang, Guangdong and Jiangxi.

Introduction of Sichuan dialect

Sichuan dialect originated from the ancient non-Chinese languages of Shu and Cuban. Since then, Sichuan dialect has been developing and changing with the historical process and the changes of immigrants from Sichuan. As a branch of Mandarin, Southwest Mandarin has high internal consistency. As a part of southwest mandarin, Sichuan dialect has great internal consistency. Compared with Putonghua, it has great consistency in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar.

Nevertheless, as a local dialect, especially in view of the complexity of Sichuan's population source in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, there are still more than 30 Hakka dialect islands and more than 40 Hunan dialect islands, and Sichuan dialect and Putonghua all show considerable differences.
