Sanmenxia Reservoir, located in the northeast of Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, is the first large-scale water control project built on the Yellow River in China after the founding of New China. Also known as "the first dam of the Yellow River in Wan Li", we can see the intentions of the water conservancy elites at that time.

Of course, this dam is not a hollow reputation. Through comprehensive water storage operation, it can not only meet the needs of flood control, irrigation and power generation, but also bring a lot of benefits to the downstream.

Someone will definitely speak highly of this reservoir. However, the dam repair project was opposed from the beginning, and Shaanxi Province even wanted to blow up the reservoir because they thought it was reckless.

At that time, Sanmenxia reservoir was really a hidden worry, and I didn't agree with the completion of this reservoir.

In order to "Huang Heqing", a reservoir was built in Sanmenxia in 196 1 year, that is, one year after the dam was built, an accident occurred, and150,000 tons of sediment blocked the channel from Tongguan to Sanmenxia, resulting in the river bed rising, the Weihe River being cut off and flooding. The most painful thing is the people living on both sides of the river. The fields are flooded by the river, the grain is decreasing year by year, and the wilderness is everywhere. Whatever the reason, whoever it is, you should feel sorry for it.

Dr. Huang Wanli once said: People don't agree to siltation in the rivers below Sanmenxia. Why do they agree to siltation above Sanmenxia? Yes, why not let the sediment drain down the clear water?

Due to the above conditions, the reservoir experienced the first reconstruction. In order to control this loss, the design tonnage has been reduced again and again, and the storage capacity has been seriously lost after serious sediment deposition, which can not meet the requirements of flood control planning of the Yellow River (so Xiaolangdi Reservoir was built to deal with the aftermath of Sanmenxia Reservoir). Therefore, after repeated transformation, a lot of money was wasted, and the power generation benefit was greatly reduced due to the reduction of head and sediment wear.

Of course, it is also the above conditions. Sanmenxia government launched immigration, and people who have experienced immigration will definitely say, "One family moved, Wanjiaan." People's original intentions are good, and they are all actions of "giving up family for everyone". However, when they immigrate to a new place to live, there will definitely be a lot of inadaptability: for example, crops can't be planted, animals can't live, and people will eventually die because of the environment ... The suffering of immigrants is not acceptable to ordinary people. Until finally, when the government ordered the immigrants to move back, finally no one could come back, and they couldn't move any more. After all, some farmers' property is on the ground and cannot be moved. In the end, it not only wasted money, but also lost people.

Sanmenxia reservoir is not completely bad, at least it has controlled the flood downstream, and engineers have also learned the experience of reservoir operation.

But I still think that the disadvantages of the Sanmenxia Reservoir outweigh the advantages, so I don't agree with the completion of this reservoir.
