Jackson was born in Vancouver, a famous city in North Columbia, Canada, on June1978+0/KLOC-0. His father is a playwright and his mother is from Dublin, Ireland. In the 1970s, the Jackson family immigrated to the United States and spent their childhood in Jackson, California. At the age of eight, Jackson moved to Seattle and studied at Einstein Middle School. In his middle school days, Jackson liked acting very much and played an important role in the school stage play.

Jackson's fame began with the popular youth drama Dawson's Stream on WB TV, in which he played a handsome young man full of youthful vitality, Pacey Witt. The play was first broadcast on 1998 and lasted for six years, winning the love of many young actors such as katie holmes.

After The Age of Love, Jackson made three more films, playing dennis hopper in American, harvey keitel in Shadows in the Sun and Donald in Northern Lights. In 2007, Jackson filmed a horror film "Confinement" invested by the United States in Tokyo, Japan.

In 2008, Jackson played Peter Bishop in the new drama Edge on Fox TV.
