Can Mars volunteers come back after landing on Mars?

Going to a place where human beings have never set foot is a huge challenge, and it takes more courage to go on knowing that you can't return to the earth. The Dutch "Mars One" research institute launched a plan to let volunteers land on Mars and establish human settlements in 2023. This year, the organization will recruit the first four volunteers through a reality TV show. However, the institute made it clear that these volunteers could not return to Earth after landing on Mars.

Mars immigrants

Eight years of training is gone forever.

Volunteers will be trained for 8 years before landing on Mars in 2023. On October 8th, 65438/KLOC-0, the Institute clearly stated: "They should know that if this project goes smoothly, they will not be able to return to Earth."

The institute hopes to raise funds for the Mars project through a long-term global reality show, and the top 24 volunteers flying to Mars will be selected through the reality show. The audience can vote for the first four volunteers to land on Mars in 2023, and 20 volunteers will land on Mars by 2033.

After landing on Mars, the difficulties immigrants will face include: barren Martian land full of craters, Martian air with carbon dioxide accounting for 95%, and huge temperature difference of 35℃~- 135℃.

Recruitment standard

No special skill requirements

Different from paying attention to flying experience and determination when selecting astronauts, the institute believes that the team spirit and cooperation spirit of Mars "colonists" are more valuable. They must meet the following criteria:

Applicants must have strong adaptability, curiosity, creativity and adaptability. After being selected, volunteers will receive at least 8 years of training and learn all the skills needed to survive on Mars.

Although Mars "colonists" want to give up life on earth completely, there are still a large number of people signing up. According to the institute, more than 1000 applications have been received.
