Yes! My surname is Wu, but I am always scolded by H at school. If there is no descendant's surname, it is rare unless it is in ancient times, and Wu surname is also very common in ancient times. Wu's official position is very high, but it seems that it is because of the war (I don't know when it was fought), so there are few people surnamed Wu now. Now most of Wu's surnames are in Fujian and Guangdong (my Guangdong).
