What are Sunan people?
Sunan people are gentle, kind, and have delicate personalities. In the eyes of Shanghainese, the Sunan people are the people from the Wu-speaking area south of the Yangtze River and east of Maoshan in Jiangsu Province, including Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Taicang, Kunshan, Changshu, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Yixing, Liyang, and Danyang. There are also people from Qidong and Tongdong in Haimen who speak Wu dialect. Because they are immigrants from the south of the Yangtze River in history, they can also be regarded as people from southern Jiangsu.
