Ielts, mbth international English language testing system, is jointly managed by the Foreign Language Testing Department of Cambridge University Examinations Committee, the British Council and IDP Education Group. This is an English proficiency test for those who intend to study, work or settle in English-speaking countries.

IELTS is divided into two categories: academic and training, which are aimed at students who apply for studying abroad and those who plan to work or immigrate in English-speaking countries. The exam is divided into four parts: listening, speaking, reading and writing, with a total score of 9 points.

Academic reading

There are 3 articles in the academic IELTS reading test, and candidates need to answer 40 questions. Each article needs to answer a different number of questions. Each question corresponds to 1 point.

The articles in the reading test came from magazines, periodicals, books and newspapers and were rewritten. In addition to words, the article also includes charts, graphics, pictures and other non-text contents, which are expressed in the form of narrative, explanatory or argumentative. The content of the article contains common topics of interest to candidates who are about to study undergraduate or postgraduate courses or registered occupations, and is consistent with their cognitive level. Among them, at least one article will appear in detailed form. The total length of all articles is about 2000 to 2750 words.

Training reading

The IELTS reading in the training class is ***3, with difficulty from simple to deep, and ***40 questions. The first part has 14 topics, and the second and third parts have 13 topics respectively. The first part usually contains two or three short articles or several paragraphs, which are selected from notices, advertisements, timetables, publicity materials and other similar sources; The second part usually consists of two articles, the contents of which are selected from university enrollment brochures, course introductions, university course introductions, library guides, regulations and other similar sources; The third part is a long article selected from newspapers, magazines, periodicals, novels or non-fiction books and other similar sources.

Academic writing

Academic IELTS writing consists of two compositions. In the composition 1, the topic will give some visual information, such as one or more interrelated charts, diagrams or tables. Candidates need to describe this information or data. The number of words in the article cannot be less than 150 words. Composition 2, the topic will give a point of view, question or topic, and candidates need to discuss it. The number of words in the article cannot be less than 250 words.

Training writing

Training IELTS writing also includes two compositions. Composition 1, candidates need to write a personal letter according to the questions or events in the topic, which can be informal, semi-formal or formal. This topic includes a description of a problem or event, and three requirements for the tasks that candidates need to complete. The number of words in the article cannot be less than 150 words. In the second composition, the topic will give an idea, an argument or a question about a specific topic. Candidates need to provide factual information, outline or propose a solution, demonstrate an opinion, or evaluate opinions and arguments. This part of the candidates need to write an argumentative essay with no less than 250 words.

In the oral part of IELTS test, the oral English level of candidates is examined through one-on-one communication between candidates and examiners. The oral test is divided into three parts, and candidates can use different oral expression skills.
