Tan Zhigang’s life

Tan Zhigang (July 20, 1975 - September 5, 1993), born in Taipei City, is a Taiwanese male artist and child star. In 1986, he worked as a young reporter in China Television's children's program "As Long as I Grow Up", and later performed in TV series such as "TCTV Theater" and "The Black Dog Prince".

In February 1988, Tan Zhigang saw an advertisement for actors in the movie "The Murder of the Kuling Street Boys" in the newspaper, so he went to China Film and Television to apply for the job with his photo information. Director Edward Yang originally wanted Tam Chi-gang to play Elvis Presley. However, "Kulling Street Murders" took many years from casting, preparation to filming. When the filming officially started, Tam Chi-gang, who had grown much taller, was changed to play the pony.

In July 1990, Tan Zhigang originally planned to immigrate to the United States with his family after graduating from junior high school, and then return to Taiwan to work in the film industry after completing a film course. However, since the filming of the movie "The Murder of the Boys on Kuling Street" was about to begin at that time, Tan Zhigang temporarily stayed in Taiwan to film.

In 1991, Xu Xiaoming and Hou Hsiao-hsien spotted Tan Zhigang at the preview meeting of "The Murders of the Kuling Street Boys" and decided to let Tan Zhigang star in the movie "Young Man, OK!" 》The male protagonist.

In 1992, after two years, Tan Zhigang once again prepared to study film in the United States in 1993. However, at that time, the film company was preparing to shoot "Hey, Boy, OK!" "Sequel", as the leading actor, Tan Zhigang continued to stay in Taiwan to wait for the filming of the movie to start.

On September 4, 1993, Tan Zhigang and seven friends took two jeeps and returned to Taipei from Hsinchu County. Later, one of the jeeps had a rear tire puncture, and Tan Zhigang and his friends took another car. He went down the mountain to seek help, but at a bend in the mountain road, he fell into a valley more than 100 meters deep. Tan Zhigang died on the spot.

On September 19, 1993, Tan Zhigang’s friends in the industry held a farewell ceremony with songs and shadows for Tan Zhigang. Movies starring Tan Zhigang were played at the farewell ceremony.
