Hougang Town has a long history. According to the archaeological excavation analysis of Hecheng site in the Neolithic ancient city, human beings flourished in Hougang 6000 years ago, creating a splendid farming civilization.

During the Warring States Period, Huang Xie, a famous figure of Chu, lived in Hougang. "Jingmen County Records" records: "When the sky is clear, there are clouds of smoke in the western hills, and there are sacrificial platforms for Chu people."

BC12nd century, Shang Dynasty enfeoffed the descendants of Wu Ding to establish a powerful country in Hanxi, draw water (now Zhupi River) and build a powerful city in Maliang.

In 1 1 century BC, the royal family of Zhou Dynasty sealed the clan of Jianghan and founded the country (now Shilipu).

BC 1027-770, the northern part of Jingmen was Tan State and the eastern part was a powerful country. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Chu Wuwang seized power, moved to that place (now Lime Bridge) and established the Right County. Jingmen belongs to the State of Chu.
