The Historical Evolution of Hougang Town

Hougang Town has a long history. According to the archaeological excavation analysis of Hecheng site in the Neolithic ancient city, human beings flourished in Hougang 6000 years ago, creating a splendid farming civilization.

During the Warring States Period, Huang Xie, a famous figure of Chu, lived in Hougang. "Jingmen County Records" records: "When the sky is clear, there are clouds of smoke in the western hills, and there are sacrificial platforms for Chu people."

BC12nd century, Shang Dynasty enfeoffed the descendants of Wu Ding to establish a powerful country in Hanxi, draw water (now Zhupi River) and build a powerful city in Maliang.

In 1 1 century BC, the royal family of Zhou Dynasty sealed the clan of Jianghan and founded the country (now Shilipu).

BC 1027-770, the northern part of Jingmen was Tan State and the eastern part was a powerful country. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Chu Wuwang seized power, moved to that place (now Lime Bridge) and established the Right County. Jingmen belongs to the State of Chu.

In 278 BC (the 29th year of Qin Dynasty), Bai Qi conquered Chu State, occupied Jianghan, and established Nanjun (now Jingzhou City), to which Jingmen belonged.

In the first year of Yuan Wenzong (1328), Changlin County moved to Zaohu Lake in the southwest of Shayang, and Hougang Town built Yuan Changlin Baoying Warehouse.

In the third year of the Republic of China (19 14), it was divided into three districts.

17 to 34 years (1938- 1945) was occupied by the Japanese army.

In the 37th year of the Republic of China (1948), on May 19, China People's Liberation Army (PLA) liberated Hong Kong and belonged to Shayang City.

1960 is Hougang District, directly under the jurisdiction of Shayang City.

1985 assigned to Shayang District.

199865438+February, Shayang evacuated area was merged into Jingmen City, and Hougang was reduced to a county-administered town.
