The Historical Origin of Hounds in East Sichuan

In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Sichuan experienced more than 4 years of war, and with the epidemic of plague, its population dropped sharply. At that time, there was no one and no smoke in the neighboring water. In order to avoid war, survivors moved out one after another. By the early years of Qing Emperor Kangxi, there were more than 1 households in the county. In the seventeenth year of Chongzhen since Ming Dynasty (AD 1644) and the seventeenth year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (AD 166), Linshui County was ignorant (equivalent to the post of county magistrate today). At that time, all the neighboring waters were desolate and wild. Tigers often hurt people in the suburbs of today's county. Wild cats and pheasants swarmed in Ba 'er, Shizi and Fusheng, and wild boar and monkeys were everywhere in Gushiyong. In order to prevent wild animals from hurting people, many immigrants built their houses on stone platforms. The world changed in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and bandits emerged one after another. So far, there are still many stockade relics, which were built to prevent bandits. All these have prompted local residents in Linshui to domesticate local dogs to watch the house, take dogs to hunt and remove wild things (local language refers to wild animals, especially tigers, leopards, wolves, etc., which are very easy to hurt people), and prevent bandits from looting. Therefore, they domesticated mountain dogs with strong physical strength, endurance, fighting capacity, sense of smell and loyalty, and according to the principle of origin, they should be called neighbors. Before liberation, it was mainly used for guarding houses of large families and hunting activities of mountain farmers. After liberation, it was mainly kept by hunters, and the Pingba area was attacked by other breeds of dogs, and the number was sharply scarce, only owned by mountain hunters. In the early 199s, Orion, Xiang Deyi, Liu Qiang and Jiang Shengming made a lot of textual research on the origin of this dog breed, and confirmed this dog breed, but its size and coat color were slightly different due to geographical differences. At that time, there was no standard name for this breed of dog, and even the locals didn't know what kind of dog it was. In order to develop China's dog breed resources, Mr. Zhou Guang named it Chuandong Hound scientifically and concisely according to its origin and main functions. In 1994, he recommended the East Sichuan hound in the second issue of China Dog Breeding magazine. After Chongqing became a municipality directly under the central government, the geographical term "Chuandong" was more generalized. In order to let more people know about this ancient and precious dog breed, it was decided to change its name to "Chongqing Dog" in April 2 after research by Chongqing Pet Association (the neighboring water is connected with the mountains and rivers of Chongqing). According to archaeological research, the dog has served human beings for at least 2 years. Over the years, a large number of pottery figurines resembling the dog have been found in the tombs of Han Dynasty excavated in Chongqing (including the neighboring water area), and the patron saint at the tomb door also has the graphic appearance of the dog. It can be seen that the East Sichuan Dog was deeply loved by people more than 2, years ago. For a period of time, due to the changes of society and environment, the number of dogs in eastern Sichuan has been decreasing, becoming an endangered dog breed, and its purity has been increasingly influenced by miscellaneous dogs, which urgently needs people of insight to breed and popularize.
