Basic introduction of southern Liaoning

Southern Liaoning was once called "the land of emperors". In a narrow sense, it refers to Dalian, and in a broad sense, it also includes Yingkou, Anshan and Dandong. Its territory covers more than half of Liaodong Peninsula. Specifically, "Southern Liaoning" mainly includes: Dalian, and Pulandian, Wafangdian, Zhuanghe, Changhai, Jinzhou and Lushun under Dalian's jurisdiction; Yingkou City and Dashiqiao and Gaizhou under the jurisdiction of Yingkou City; Dandong City and its subordinate donggang city, Fengcheng City and Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County; Anshan City and ten counties and cities including Haicheng City and Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County under its jurisdiction. In ancient times, there was a saying that "the golden sea covers the land and Liaoyang is outside". 1965, the state established the southern Liaoning exclusive area. It is the main radiation zone of the "Three Seas Culture" area (the monument of "Three Seas Wei Yi" in the Chenghuang Temple in Gaixian County). During the Three Kingdoms period, Ning Guan (living in Guanning Village, Haicheng), Wang Lie (living in Sanshan Island, Dalian) and other Shandong scholars came to southern Liaoning to give lectures in seclusion, which made the customs and education here different from other regions, so it was later called "the land of ruling kings". Because the peninsula has been rich in apples since modern times, it is also known as the "hometown of apples". This place is also called "the country of scholars in the East". The ancestors of people in southern Liaoning are mostly Shandong immigrants from "Little Yunnan" and "Hainan's father". The customs and education of the Han nationality are deeply rooted and it is difficult to assimilate with Manchu in the early Qing Dynasty.

The official languages are Jiaoliao Mandarin (modern Lai language, evolved from Gulai language) and the transitional dialect between northeastern mandarin and Jiaoliao Mandarin (Haicheng dialect). To be exact, Jiaoliao Mandarin in southern Liaoning belongs to Gaihuan dialect (Yingkou dialect and Xiuyan dialect) and Lian Deng dialect (Dalian dialect) in Jiaoliao Mandarin.

Southern Liaoning people belong to a branch of Liaodong Peninsula, the Jiaoliao family of Han nationality. Jiaoliao people are mainly distributed in eastern Shandong and southern Liaoning, with Qingzhou in Shandong as the cultural center, Qingdao in Shandong and Dalian in southern Liaoning as the economic centers, Dalian in southern Liaoning as the largest city, and Jiaoliao Mandarin as the official language.

According to some historical records, "Liao Shijian" ("Fengtian Tongzhi Custom"), "History says that Liao Zuo has been a loyal woman since she was taught." (Qing Kangxi's "Haicheng County Records") This place is "tough, good at riding and shooting, ploughing mulberry, and vulgar." (Qing "Gaiping County Records") "Fierce temperament, good at riding and shooting, simple nature, vigorous spirit, learning etiquette and music, advocating poetry and calligraphy." ("Jiaqing Tongzhi") The place "is old and straightforward, worships the world, respects relatives, respects the elderly, treats guests and trusts friends." (Fengtian Tongzhi custom).
