Due to the aging of plastic pipes for many years, 1996, plastic pipes were changed to iron pipes, and multiple faucets were installed in one household. Jointly invested by the county water conservancy bureau and the village collective, the county waterworks designed and installed, completely refitted the 5000-meter-long pipeline in the village, and designed and installed fire-fighting bolts at the main intersections in the village. In the spring of 2005, after the higher authorities issued the documents of farmland capital construction project in Houtang Village, they invested 380,000 yuan, and the Party branch and village committee of Houtang Village mobilized all the people, women and children in the village to get up early and get in the dark, and all the paths of more than 600 mu of farmland in the village were uniformly widened into tractor-ploughed roads with a width of 2 meters and a total length of more than 5,000 meters. In the same year, the diversion project of 1500m-long cement channel was poured, which ensured the bumper harvest of more than 400 mu of grain fields in the village. In order to make full use of Houtang's natural advantages and develop the country's green resources, the Party branch and village committee of Houtang Village contacted the agricultural department of the city many times. With the support of Taizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Xianju County Seed Company and other relevant leaders, the town government took the lead in establishing Yangfengshan green pollution-free base and introduced Xianfeng 9 variety. In August, 2007, Pan Chaohua, deputy director of the County Agriculture Bureau, led a delegation to Houtang Village for a field trip and asked Houtang Village to report Yangfengshan rice to the state for approval and registration of trademarks. So Yangfengshan rice is famous in Xianju, Taizhou and Hangzhou. This variety is strictly controlled from scientific breeding to scientific management, from harvesting to packaging. The current party branch member and village secretary seized the favorable opportunity to set up Yangfengshan local dishes building in Xianju County, specifically citing Yangfengshan local dishes, Yangfengshan rice and Yangfengshan local wine. Business is booming and it is crowded with guests every day. The cadres in Houtang think so, and so do the villagers in Houtang. They are honest, practical and hard-working, and grow food at home, which can increase the income of each household by several thousand yuan every year. The development and production of Houtang Village were caught early. Houtang village is surrounded by mountains, and village cadres have spent a lot of effort on the word "mountain". With a total investment of more than 654.38 million yuan, more than 800 mu of barren hills will be developed into 1990 Chinese fir base. In the spring of 2006, with the help of the county forestry department, Houtang Village developed a bamboo base of nearly 600 mu. The deputy director of the village Committee personally took the lead in searching for high-quality bamboo seedlings dozens of miles away, running around the mountains all day, sometimes hungry, and paying for cigarettes to negotiate bamboo seedlings with bamboo farmers in neighboring villages. It took more than a month to plant thousands of bamboo seedlings in the base, so that Houtang Village can reach a new level in this income in the near future. There are more than 400 acres of alpine tea gardens in Houtang Village. Due to the careful management and good growth of the tea garden, every spring when picking tea, men, women and children in the village go out together, and they sing while picking tea in the tea garden. Some tea farmers process fresh leaves into Longjing tea, "Biluochun", Yuhua tea and fried green tea. Some tea farmers send fresh leaves directly to the tea factory in the town to sell. Only one season of tea, many farmers earn more than several thousand yuan, as well as bayberry, citrus, pears and other fruits.
