Mausoleum of Grimm: Behind the Veil

Greenhill is a prairie cemetery a few miles east of Cheney. Initiated by the odd independent organization of 1883. "Burying the dead is a very important thing for early eccentric people. Most houses buy land and build cemeteries as their first activity in new towns or cities, "said the house order. This order kept the cemetery 100 years, and abandoned the ownership around 1990.

Nature has played a powerful role in controlling cemeteries, some of which are covered with grassland grass. Some cemetery signs are missing. This is a quiet and peaceful place.

An interesting feature of this small cemetery is John wilkie and his family. Wilkie 1840 was born in Germany. At some point, his family immigrated to Dubuque, Iowa. 186 1 At the beginning of the Civil War, he joined the Fifth Cavalry of Iowa. This unit took part in many battles, including the siege of Fort Donielson and Atlanta. He was discharged from the army in Nashville, Tennessee on 1964. His wife and children were buried beside him. Wilkie may be typical of many veterans who settled in eastern Washington for decades after the war.
