Qiuchang got its name from the first character of the names of Qiuxi Township and Changxing Township before and after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In the 9th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1870), it belonged to the Holy Temple of Johannesburg. It belonged to the second district from the 20th year of the Republic of China (1931) to the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947). In 1950, it belonged to Tamsui District (the third district). The town originally governed Weibu, Gaoling, Xintang, West Lake, Baishi, Linghu, Chayuan, Zhoutian, Guanshan, Shuangtian, Tiemenshan, Xiangling and Liantangmian*** There are 13 management areas and 1 residents' committee, and 57 village committees. In December 1998, the work of removing rural areas and setting up villages was completed, and the original management area was renamed the village committee. In July 2000, Liantang was placed under the jurisdiction of Sanhe Development Zone.
