Why did the Swedes choose to colonize Lerwill?

De Lerwill is located in the river and bay area. Because the Dutch who lead the way are familiar with the new Amsterdam area in the north, the Swedes stay not far from the south.

Swedes began to establish trading companies in the17th century, seeking to establish colonies in America. 1633 established a new Swedish company mainly engaged in American colonial activities and trade with the support of Dutch Peter Minuit, Swedish politician axel oxenstierna and Kras Fleming, commander of the naval fleet.

1637, the first Swedish expedition organized by New Sweden Company set out from Gothenburg, Sweden, for North America under the command of Dutchman Peter Minuit. 1638 On March 29th, the New Sweden Company purchased a piece of land from the local Indians along the Delaware River in North America, and established the Christina Fortress here, which is now Wilmington, Delaware. This is Nya Sverige, Sweden's first overseas colony, including parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, with Peter Minuit as governor. Half of the colonists who colonized this area were Finns and Dutch. But before that, the Netherlands has always claimed that this area is Dutch territory (belonging to the New Netherlands). After a series of small-scale military conflicts, New Sweden was merged into the Netherlands in September 1655.
