The Historical Evolution of Meishan Township

The formation of the land area of Meishan Island can be divided into four stages according to the time of reclamation: first, the initial stage of residents (about 1600- 16 1 year): Shenshi, Zhangshi Zhusha Pond, Li Shiqiao Pond and Libai Mudang living at the foot of Yandun Mountain; Hong and Ji, who lived in Hongjiashan at that time, built a pond at the entrance and reclaimed about 500 mu of land. Two-island period (1685 ——1829): In the 23rd year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1684), residents returned to their hometowns by imperial edict. People living in Meizishan, Panzhilitang, Xuxingtang, Tanghe, Taigetang, Changjitang, Daxing and other reservoirs, as well as people living around Yandun Mountain and Nanhui Mountain, have successively built Tai 'aotang, Li 'aolitang, Waitang, Hou Ling Fantang, Shiqiaotong, Waiaotang, Yejiatang and Dan Paper Mill. At this time, two small islands have been formed, Meishan in the east and Yandun Mountain in the west, separated by Sanjiangpu. 3. During the period of integration of the two islands (1832 ——1910): during the Daoguang decade (1832), residents of the east and west islands built 800 mu ponds at the north and south ends of the Sanjiang River, and the two islands were integrated from then on. Later, Zhongjiatang, Yongxing Tang, Fuchengtang, Shalitang and Wangjiatang of the tea factory were built, and more than 9,800 mu of land was reclaimed. During the Republic of China, disasters and wars continued, and there was no story of building ponds and filling the sea. By the time of1August 1956, the land area of Meishan Island was 18.2 square kilometers, which was verified by the plane survey and field data sent by Ningbo Municipal People's Government. 4. During the People's Commune (1958 ——1980):1958 In March, Ningbo Industrial and Commercial Bureau built a pond outside Yongxing pond in the south of the island, enclosing 4,950 mu, and established Ningbo State-owned Meishan Salt Field; From 1968 to 1970, Meishan Commune and Baifeng Commune built ponds in the south of Qixitu, enclosing 1695 mu, and establishing Messi joint saltworks; Pagoda production brigade built Daxing pond outside Daxing pond, covering 430 mu, and established pagoda saltworks; Three production brigades, Meishan, Paotai and Pan Zhi, built ponds outside Tulitang to reclaim 950 mu, and established Mei Dong saltworks. Pan Zhi and Li 'ao Production Brigade built 50 mu ponds in Daotouzui and Xiatoutou respectively, and built fresh water storage tanks. From 1977 to 1980, Meishan commune built a pond in the northwest of Messi joint saltworks, enclosing 4050 mu, and established a saltworks with seven surnames. In the past 22 years, * * * cultivated 12 175 mu. In this way, the first-line seawall gradually moved outward and the land area continued to expand, forming today's island area. In the east of the island, there are small islands such as Plum Mountain and Pan jiusan, commonly known as Meishan; There are islands such as Yandun Mountain and Nanhui Mountain in the west of the township, commonly known as An Xia, which belongs to Yinxian County in ancient times. In the tenth year of Song Xining (1077), Haijun (Zhenhai County) was designated. In the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936), there were two townships, Mei Dong and Messi, which were merged into Meishan Township in 1945, and then separated and merged, and the townships were established up to now. The township governs 5 villages and 46 natural villages. By the end of 2006, the registered population was 6,249 households,15,306, of which 987 were non-agricultural; There are 572 temporary immigrants.
