International exchanges in Yamaguchi Prefecture

Yamaguchi County established friendly and sisterly cooperative relations with Shandong Province in China in 1982, Gyeongsangnam-do in South Korea in 1987, and Nábara State in Spain in November 2003. We have implemented substantial exchanges and cooperation with Shandong Province, which is famous as the hometown of Confucius and Mencius and the center of the Yellow River Civilization, in the fields of economy, tourism, environmental protection, forestry and other fields. Facing the Tsushima Strait, cultural heritage sites, and beautiful natural scenery, Gyeongsangnam-do is rich in tourism resources, and technological exchanges in the environmental field, exchanges in the education field, and youth exchanges are deepening.

The Outer Yamaguchi Prefecture People's Association, composed of immigrants from Yamaguchi Prefecture, has 16 groups in 9 countries. In order to build an exchange platform for Yamaguchi Prefecture people that transcends regions and generations, the "Other Yamaguchi Prefecture People's Association" was held in Yamaguchi City in October 2004. The first time at the World Congress of the People’s Association in Waishankou Prefecture.” Taking this as an opportunity, the Association of People from Outside the County will become the county’s overseas base for promoting internationalization and an important international exchange partner, building a close exchange relationship.
