What documents are needed for a 7-year-old child to apply for a U.S. visa?

Regardless of age, the basic documents required to apply for a U.S. visa are the same. However, 7-year-old children who meet the requirements for application exemption can use the visa delivery service to speed up the application process.

If you apply for a U.S. business/travel visa, you should pay the application fee and submit the following materials:

1. Non-immigrant visa electronic application form (DS-160).

2. A valid passport for travel to the United States must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended period of stay in the United States (except for countries with special agreements that enjoy exemptions). If the passport contains more than one person, each visa applicant will need to submit a separate application.

3. One (1) 2"x2" (5.1cmx5.1cm) photo taken within the last six months.

4. If a visa is issued, a visa reciprocity fee may also be required, depending on the applicant's nationality.

Applicants under the age of 14 and over 80 years old (inclusive), if they have no history of U.S. visa rejection, can apply for a visa through the delivery service.

In most cases, applying for a U.S. visa using a visa delivery service does not require an interview at the embassy/consulate. However, like an interview, a drop-in service does not guarantee a successful visa application. And in some cases, the embassy/consulate may require the applicant to come for an interview in person after reviewing the application submitted through the drop-off service.
