U.S. citizens should submit the I- 130 form to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Office in their residential area.

Second step

Note: after receiving the application fee, NVC will send you a package of immigration instructions (including DS-230 form). Please fill in the form according to the instructions and send it back to NVC together with the required materials. The faster you hand in the forms and related materials, the faster your application will be processed.

Third step

After receiving the file, Guangzhou Consulate will first review the file to ensure that the applicant's information is complete. If the materials are missing, the Guangzhou Consulate will send the beneficiary an explanatory package. After confirming that the materials are complete, the Guangzhou Consulate will arrange an interview for the applicant. The treatment time is about 2-4 months.

Fourth step

After determining the interview date, our library will send an appointment package (also known as package No.4) to the applicant, explaining how to prepare the interview materials. Applicants need to go to the designated hospital for physical examination before the interview.

Pilot scheme for electronic processing of immigrant visa applications

The National Visa Center (NVC) has launched a new pilot project, that is, electronic processing of immigrant visa applications. In this plan, all materials related to your application documents will be sent to the consulate by electronic contact instead of traditional mail. This can greatly improve the speed and efficiency of visa application processing and avoid the delay caused by traditional mail delivery.

The electronic processing project of immigrant visa application is only applicable to the US Consulate General in Guangzhou. Initially, this project is only applicable to the applications of immediate family members of American citizens aged 2 1 (i.e. IR- 1, IR-2, Cr- 1, Cr-2 and IR-5 visas).

If the visa center has contacted you and you have chosen to participate in this project, you don't have to send any physical documents to the visa center, which will delay the processing of your application. At that time, the visa center will send all relevant guidelines to all the mailboxes you provided by email. Please process your application according to all the guidelines on electronic submission issued by the visa center, and bring the originals of all relevant materials to the consulate during the visa interview.
