Thomas Cole (180 1- 1848) is a famous American landscape painter and one of the founders of Hudson River School. He is most famous for his romantic scenery in new york and New England, such as White Mountain Canyon (Crawford Canyon), American Lake View and Oxford (Connecticut River near Northampton). He also created allegorical paintings, including The Rise and Fall of the Empire, Life Travel and The Dream of Architects. Cole was born in England and immigrated to the United States in 18 19. He entered the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. At first, I was a portrait painter and sculptor. He settled in new york from 65438 to 0825 and successfully exhibited his first batch of landscape paintings. From 65438 to 0829, Cole went to Europe and visited Britain, France and Italy. 1832 After returning to the United States, he began to create allegorical paintings and historical paintings.
