Skills of manually planing big tree roots

When digging roots manually, you must have handy tools, such as picks, shovels and axes. First, dig out the soil around the roots with shovels and pickaxes. After seeing the outline of the whole root, cut off all the roots with an axe. Then you can lift the whole tree root out of the pit with a pickaxe, but the big tree root is still very heavy, so it is faster to use machinery as much as possible.
