The Strait of Gibraltar is in Spain. Does it belong to Spain?

The Strait of Gibraltar is the only passage between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and it is also the throat where the Atlantic Ocean enters the Mediterranean Sea. This is a battleground for military strategists. 1704, the British navy occupied the port of Gibraltar in the northeast of the Strait, established a military fortress and controlled the traffic in the Strait. The northern shore of Gibraltar is within the territory of Spain, but it is an enclave in a land called Gibraltar near the east of Britain, which makes the border of the northern shore of Gibraltar very complicated.

1704, Britain conquered Gibraltar in the continuous war in Spain. Due to the defeat of the war, Spain had to declare that Gibraltar would be ceded to Britain forever in the Treaty of Utrecht signed in 17 13. After Britain occupied Gibraltar, it established a military fortress here to control the traffic in the Strait. For many years after the war, the people of Gibraltar have always wanted to continue to accept British rule and supported it by an absolute majority in many referendums. In resolutions 223 1 (XXI) and 2353 (XXII), the United Nations called on Britain and Spain to reach an agreement on Gibraltar in order to end the colonial situation. The Spanish government claimed that the United Nations solution was superior to the Treaty of Utrecht, so it demanded to recover the territory, but the British side ignored it. In addition to sovereignty issues, the demarcation of the border has also caused disputes between the two countries. At present, the United Nations recognizes Gibraltar as a Non-Self-Governing Territory or colony.

The Spanish government is deeply worried about this place, which originally belongs to its own territory but is embedded in the territory of other countries. I feel as if I have been stabbed in my body, and I have unspeakable hidden pain in my heart. After nearly a century of dreams, they all want to return to their own territory. However, until now, the Spanish government has no choice but to look down on itself arrogantly on this hill and watch the British government warships cruise in Gibraltar and share the rights and interests of Gibraltar. This is a long-term historical issue. The Spanish have started negotiations with the British government, but there has been no result.

Fortunately, the current balance of power has not been broken. Based on the common interests of both sides, Spain and Britain guarded the Strait of Gibraltar, which also brought peace to the Strait. The Kingdom of Morocco in Africa, south of the Strait, does not pay much attention to the peace and turmoil in the Strait of Gibraltar because of its own military strength. Therefore, ships sailing from Europe to the Mediterranean, or ships sailing from Asia to Europe via the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean, all enter and leave here safely, and the maritime department of the Spanish government maintains traffic safety here.
