Why do Koreans say Confucius is theirs?

Confucius was born in 556 BC. There are four generations of single biographies behind Confucius, which gradually multiplied from the eighth generation. More than 2500 years later, its descendants are all over the world.

There are about 1 10,000 descendants of Confucius, of which 10% is in the mainland. Outside the mainland, South Korea, Taiwan Province Province and Japan are the majority, followed by Europe and North America. Among them, South Korea is the most representative. The descendants of Confucius in Korea are the 56th generation grandchildren of a Confucius who visited Korea with the delegation of the Yuan Dynasty, but they failed to return to China and began to reproduce in Korea. At present, after nearly 650 years, the descendants of Confucius in Korea have been handed down for 30 generations, and the number has reached more than 60,000 (this is a considerable number). Different from other places, the descendants of Confucius in Korea have their own genealogy and organization, which is known as the Confucius Congress (the date of birth is unknown).

The descendants of Confucius in Korea have many outstanding social figures in past dynasties. Not to mention, in the past forty or fifty years, many people have occupied a place in the social fields such as military and political affairs, education, industry and commerce, and stood out. For example, in the late 1980s (when it was the 2540th anniversary of Confucius' birth and the first Confucius Cultural Festival was held in Qufu, Shandong Province), South Korea's Confucius Conference sent a delegation of nearly 20 people to Qufu. The head of the delegation is a recently retired general named Kong Guozhen. Kong Yonghe, deputy head of the Air Force, is a retired lieutenant general. The chairman of the conference was the navy commander in active service at that time.

At present, it is said that Korean descendants of Confucius have reached the 86th generation, while China descendants of Confucius have reached the 80th generation. This is probably related to the early marriage custom in Korea. But in any case, it is groundless for Confucius to be the ancestor of Koreans. The 65,438+10,000 descendants of Confucius in Qufu, Shandong Province will not agree, and the people of China will naturally not agree.
