The largest natural forest area in China is the Northeast Forest Area. In addition, the second largest natural forest area in China is the southwest forest area.

Northeast forest areas are mainly distributed in Daxing 'anling, Xiaoxing 'anling and Changbai Mountain. Mainly mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests in the middle temperate zone.
