Finally it’s my turn I wrote this thing, but it still feels a bit unreal that it exploded like this. On the PTE road, I am the person who "claims" to have prepared for the exam for three years. Why do I say so-called, because I know in my heart that the time I spent really preparing for the exam in the past three years may only be two or three months. Having said a lot of things, it should actually serve as a lesson for all the students who are still preparing for the exam.
1. People with poor English foundation can also do it
2. Don’t procrastinate and reschedule the PTE exam.
3. Start brushing the machine with high frequency
4. Don’t have any psychological burden, and don’t think that you can only succeed if you have completed the test bank and are proficient in it. PTE is really not difficult
5. Even if you make major mistakes in the exam, you can still fail. Again, PTE is really not difficult and has a high error tolerance rate.
Let’s talk about the basics of English first: I graduated as an undergraduate in 2012. Among the two people in my class who failed to pass CET-6, I was the only one. After the defense, I took the CET-6 exam once and still failed. I was preparing to study abroad in 2013. I initially wanted to go to the United States and take the TOEFL test. I took the test 5 times and got a maximum score of 52 out of 120. When I thought about taking the GRE, I moved to Australia. Then I took the IELTS test and took it five more times. It was the best. The overall score is 5.5, and the sub-score is over 5 points, which is enough for the language school. I had already graduated at that time, and I had been studying for the English test at home full-time for two years. I didn’t want to delay any more. The language school was a language school, so I came to Australia. . From 2015 to 2019, half a year of language school + three and a half years of postgraduate study, English was still a stumbling block, and I was barely on the verge of failing the class. Thinking that immigration requires language proficiency, I started preparing for the PTE exam in 2018.
Teacher’s words:
Frank’s exam preparation experience is really a reference for most students. I first met Frank in Feifan's class. He worked very hard in class and strictly followed the teacher's instructions. This is really important. Judging from the previous results, the foundation is good, but it is always a little short of reaching the target score. From the class courses, I found that the overall accuracy of reading is still a bit skewed, and the performance is not stable, so reading is always with myself. target scores are different. So in the one-to-one reading course, I first sorted out his skills for all question types. Based on his specific situation, I set a direction for him, that is: during the process of answering questions and taking exams, Read all the objective questions and aim to achieve an accuracy rate of more than 80%. In this case, judging from his situation, he can steadily improve his accuracy and get the target score. And more importantly, you must accumulate wrong words and accumulate experience and feelings in doing questions.
In the one-on-one sprint course before the exam, we checked and filled in the gaps and almost finished most of the FIB and RO. We also tested the overall performance with mock exam C and mock exam A of different difficulties before the exam. Correct rate. The biggest advantage of Frank is that he is really obedient and serious. The lack of accuracy at the beginning was sometimes because he was thinking too complicatedly when doing the questions, or his thinking was a little off track. In class, I sorted out the current high-frequency questions and the question types with high error rates among all students, and helped him sort out his ideas and familiarize himself with the techniques. When we conducted intensive special training, we helped him better find the reasons for his errors. , and also repeatedly reminded him not to think too much during the exam, and just use the simplest ideas to solve the questions. Frank himself worked very hard and absorbed it very quickly. It was obvious that in the four individual items of listening, speaking, reading and writing, he listened very carefully to the teachers' opinions and quickly adjusted his ideas, thus finally achieving the target score. ! His successful experience is really worth learning from.
We are very happy for him. After stumbling along the way, he finally broke up with PTE smoothly. We also wish him to continue this hard work and luck in his future life and study!
Review of 3 years of preparation experience
The first time I took the exam was on July 29, 2018. At that time, I took the exam completely naked. I wanted to familiarize myself with the question types. Maybe it was because of my previous experience. After taking 5 TOEFL + 5 IELTS exams, I started to be careless about language exams. Now that I think about it, it’s a bit inappropriate. Although I was mentally prepared for the result, Speaking 41 still felt a little awkward. I asked the teacher and said that there might be a problem with the microphone at the time.
I signed up for a class in the middle, so I won’t mention my name. Probably because it was too early at that time, and everyone was still in the research stage for PTE. During the class, I taught a lot of knowledge points that I later found out were wrong. For example, fluency is the speed of speaking, the faster you speak, the higher your fluency, etc. I remember that all the students in the class practiced tongue twisters, but at least they had some enlightenment knowledge about PTE. The general feeling was "PTE and IELTS" It’s different. PTE is scored by a machine and you can ‘bully’ the machine.”
After the class, I still took the test naked. The second test? March 29, 2019 (every month since the last test). rescheduled until March), half a year later, listening increased by 5 points, speaking increased by 20 points, finally normal, and then began the two-year preparation period that I didn’t care about. Immigration requires eight exams, but I didn’t even pass seven exams in two years. In 2019, I went to an institution to take classes. I felt that I learned some skills, which was considered a formal introduction to PTE. Then I continued fishing for three days and drying nets for two days. Preparing for the exam, from the preparation for the exam while studying to the end of 485, until February this year.
There is no time to put off February this year. I thought that so many people were going crazy, and there was no reason why I couldn’t. So I started to prepare seriously. Considering that I am not very self-conscious about learning, I used the old method. Sign up for a class. You should be more motivated by following a lot of people who are studying. This time, I signed up for the Feifanyun Examination Group through the introduction of my classmates. At first, I only attended the first one and two stages. Later I heard that the third and fourth stages are mainly The teacher asked me to do the questions, which was nice and met my needs, so I continued to apply for the third and fourth stages. In fact, the knowledge and skills covered in the third and fourth stages are very little. If I say that I have zero foundation in PTE, in fact, the first and second stages are completely enough. . It can be regarded as forcing myself. Although the class can be done online or offline, I feel that I should be more focused when I am there, so I force myself to go offline to listen to the class every time. I will not miss any homework left by the teacher. I wanted to know what I could do in this exam, so I got the report card from April this year, and finally got it right.
I would like to thank Teacher Kevin here. He should be a teacher who has mastered oral English. Every little trick is very targeted. At least in terms of oral English, he can be obedient (the rainbow painting on his hand) Get up! ) is enough.
After the seventh bomb, I felt a little proud and complacent, so I relaxed and played for a while, and rescheduled a few times as usual until the deadline I set for myself: September 14, 2021, with one year of work experience. days of the year. It makes no sense that the EOI score is only 85 points even though I have full work experience. If I want to immigrate, I can’t escape the bombs, so I started to prepare.
Considering that the exam in April had a low score in writing, the teacher suggested that WFD and SST were not done well, so I went to brush up on the computer. At this time, there was only one week before the exam. So the goal I set for myself is to at least finish the WFD high-frequency before the exam. The WFD high-frequency test on September 1st was 268 questions, 50 questions every day plus review of the 50 questions memorized the day before yesterday. I gave about 220 questions in about a week, but I didn’t finish them. I planned to reschedule, but then I found out that the exam was due to the Sydney epidemic. I got nervous because I didn’t take the exam all September, so I panicked, gritted my teeth and took the exam. Unexpectedly, my writing score increased by so much! (From 66 to 76)
You must know that my SST skills are only 10 questions in April, and then the teacher practiced them in class.
But as soon as I pressed the gourd, my reading score was low again. I knew in my heart that it was probably because I had not practiced RA well. Because the focus of the April exam was to practice RA well, the reading score went up, so I relaxed my vigilance and did not Practice hard and there will be lags during the exam. RA has a huge impact on reading.
After taking the exam in September, I planned to strike while the iron is hot and continue to work. I was lucky. When I signed up for the exam, there were only exam slots for November. One night when I checked the exam slots, I saw that there were exam slots for October 7th. , the time is right, grab it as soon as possible, here is a reminder to friends in Sydney, don’t be afraid if you are nervous about taking the exam, there will be someone rescheduling before the exam, and you can often make it to the next day’s exam. Don’t be discouraged from reviewing actively just because you don’t have a seat.
At this time, the exam was less than three weeks away. After consulting with a consultant, I was recommended one-on-one. I remembered that when I signed up for the cloud exam group, I was offered 12 hours of one-on-one, so I decided to take the exam first. I tried it one-on-one for 12 hours. With the help of Teacher Mandy and Teacher Belinda, I solved the questions and reviewed the examination skills in a targeted manner. I am very grateful to the two teachers for avoiding possible detours when time was tight. Because I had tasted the benefits of high-frequency brushing on WFD before, I focused on other question types this time and started brushing on high-frequency. I brushed 2/3 of RS on high-frequency. Later, the teacher pointed out that RS was my strong point, so I took the time to brush up on other questions. I'm in shape, I passed 2/3 of the RO high frequency, 1/2 of the FIB reading, I finished the WFD high frequency, I passed the 24 questions of the "Storytelling and Memorizing SST Series" of the SST high frequency, and then memorized a big essay argument. The template is in the examination room.
Exam experience: I just want to say one thing, please pay attention to the difference between DI and RL! During the performance in April this year, I mistook the RL for the DI. Just as I was confidently speaking, a recording suddenly came from my earphones, so I hurriedly found a notebook to take notes. This time in October, I mistook DI for RL and quickly found a notebook to take notes. I waited for the recording obediently for 20 seconds. When I saw the computer starting to "play the recording", I quickly concentrated on getting ready to take notes. Then 3 seconds later... Next question. Oh, let me tell you one more thing. Before the exam, remember to check whether the pen works well. The pen used in the exam is quite easy to use. I remember that there was an exam (I forgot which one) for the listening FIB exam. I was blind when looking at the computer screen. When I wrote the words I heard, I looked down and was confused. I didn’t write anything. I finished the questions from memory. Even the pen worked fine at first. If I forgot to cap the pen when not in use during the exam, it would also happen. If you write it off, you won't be able to write, so you must make sure you can write with both pens before taking the exam. Otherwise, it will be too uncomfortable to raise your hand and ask the teacher for a pen while playing the recording over and over again.
I was able to explode this time in October. It still feels unreal to this day. It turns out that I can explode even if I blank a DI. Looking back, I realized that I actually had a certain psychological burden on PTE. I always thought that I could only finish it after completing the question bank, and I had to memorize it backwards. The total time for serious review was only two or three months. That's it, it's not as difficult as imagined. Many times, not just in the matter of PTE, we are intimidated by the difficulties we imagine and thus shrink back. It's really not that difficult to do. In fact, I regret it a lot. If I had known that I would be able to get over it if I rushed, I would have rushed earlier. It really shouldn’t have been delayed until now. Friends who have procrastination, you can try to take the high-frequency test only once. Maybe it will explode. Even if it doesn't explode, I believe everyone knows how far away it is from explosion.
Finally, I wish everyone can get their ideal scores! Stop rescheduling!
