Why does every man in Singapore have to perform military service?

First, the military service system in Singapore:

1. All male citizens and permanent residents after the second generation will be notified by the government to register with the Ministry of National Defense when they reach the age of 15.

2. Except for serious disabilities (such as missing arms and broken legs, deaf and dumb, stupid and crazy) and serious diseases (such as long-term chemotherapy, radiotherapy and kidney dialysis), all people are recorded as preparing for military service, and their passports are changed to valid for only three years.

3, 18 years old, will join the army at any time (so most boys will "wait to join the army" at home after graduating from JTC, Poly or JTC);

4. Get a medical examination as soon as you join the army. Those who are in poor health and cannot carry out basic military training will be placed in civilian posts, but they will still serve for two years. Overweight people will be sent to a special weight loss camp first;

5. Then six months of basic military training (BMT for short), from which people with higher education are selected and trained into technical arms such as communication and automatic control.
