The use of Singapore flag

Outside the National Day, Singapore's national flag generally appears outside government-related buildings, such as the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Immigration and the Ministry of Education. Singapore's educational institutions will also raise the Singapore flag. In the classroom, a Singapore flag will be placed above the blackboard. Most of the national flags hung in the classroom are plastic products. Primary and secondary schools hold a flag-raising ceremony at least once a week, during which students are required to sing the national anthem and take an oath.

Sometimes some maritime vessels registered in Singapore will fly the Singapore flag, but this behavior is not correct. The correct way is to fly the Singapore flag on the ship. The flag of the Singapore civil ship has a red background with a circle in the middle, which is wrapped with a new moon and five stars. Sea patrol ships or warships do not fly the national flag, but the flag of the Singapore navy.

In the event of serious accidents, the death of important people or national mourning days, the national flag will be required to fly at half mast. When the former president or senior minister died, the flag in Singapore flew at half mast. On June 9, 2005, in order to commemorate the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, the Singapore government decided to make an exception and lower the flag at half mast.
