The earthquake lasted about 2 minutes. According to preliminary measurement, the intensity of earthquake damage in Wudu District was 7.5 degrees, followed by more than 2,000 aftershocks. According to Gansu Seismological Network, at 03: 00 and 20: 00 on May 13, there were two more earthquakes in Wenxian County.

Longnan City is the hardest hit area in Gansu Province and also the hardest hit area in China. According to the preliminary statistics of counties, the earthquake involved 195 townships, 2,343 villages, with a population of 425,800,1747,600, and the whole city needed to relocate 890,000 people. The earthquake damaged 9 counties/0/492 water conservancy facilities in the city, including 205 river embankment projects and 589 drinking water projects, which made drinking water difficult for 288,438+0.4 million people. The landslide in Jialing Town, Huixian County caused the deformation of the railway track in Huixian County, baoji-chengdu railway Province, and 40 trucks (including 1043 trucks loaded with gasoline) derailed, the locomotives caught fire, and 13 gasoline tanks were buried, resulting in the closure of Jialing River and road congestion.

The earthquake caused serious damage to schools in this city. 10 students were killed, 26 were seriously injured, 67 were slightly injured and 5 teachers were injured.
