Elevation of Danjiangkou Reservoir

On November 20, 2011, the water level of the Danjiangkou Reservoir reached an altitude of 158 meters, 13 meters higher than the reservoir’s normal water level of 145 meters above sea level.

According to relevant departments, in accordance with the principle of sustained, stable and gradually increasing the capacity of the reservoir area, after the completion of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in Henan Danjiangkou Reservoir Area this year, the Danjiangkou Reservoir Area will gradually begin to store water. The water level in the reservoir area will increase next year. It will reach an altitude of 165.4 meters. The normal water storage level in 2014 will be increased to 170 meters above sea level to ensure the water supply needs of the middle line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project after the 2014 flood season.
