In 2005, Korean company MChinatown signed a contract with South China's Tsinghua Co., Ltd. to build a new Zhonghua Street in a mountainous area in Gaoyang City, Gyeonggi Province, northwest of Seoul. This Zhonghua Street is expected to be completed in March 2007, covering an area of 1.5 million square meters (about 49,500 square meters) and will be the largest Zhonghua Street in Korea.
On May 3rd, 2006, South Korea held the election of local government chief. For the first time, foreigners aged over 19 who have the right to settle and legally reside in South Korea for more than three years were allowed to exercise their right to vote. Korean China people have the right to vote for the first time, but they still can't vote for members of parliament.
