Why do American cars have high fuel consumption and Japanese cars generally have low fuel consumption?

Looking at the United States, the actual situation is just the opposite of Japan. The United States is a country with abundant resources and a vast territory. Its territory includes many overseas territories, such as Washington, D.C., 50 states and Guam. The land area is 9.933 million square kilometers and the population is 330 million. This is a country of immigrants. Seeing here, we may find that the area of the United States is nearly 25 times that of Japan, but the population is less than three times that of Japan. So it can be seen that the national conditions of the United States are completely different from those of Japan.

It is based on such national conditions that Americans pay special attention to enjoyment and luxury when making cars. For example, Buick, Lincoln and Cadillac used to be theirs. Which car is not a Mercedes-Benz BMW Audi? Whether it is materials or technology, it is not inferior to today's luxury cars. So on this issue, Americans have always been "generous" than the Japanese. Therefore, when we look back on American cars in the past, we often find that American cars are really "oil tigers" in terms of fuel consumption, and they have no ability to upgrade or support them.

So the first question is, why do American cars have high fuel consumption and Japanese cars have low fuel consumption? I think the first reason is the different direction of technology research and development caused by national conditions. Japan is short of resources, so economic factors must be considered when building a car. From the perspective of economy, it is necessary to improve the working ability and combustion efficiency of automobile engines. Therefore, Japanese automobile enterprises must actively develop more energy-saving technologies in the early stage of development. I think most of the products we buy from several big Japanese car companies are equipped with our own engine technology.

What about American cars? One thing to remember is that the United States is an immigrant country, so their advantage is that they can accommodate all foreign things quickly enough. As long as you behave well, Americans will certainly make progress at the fastest speed. This is the innovative spirit of Americans and even this country.

Speaking of automobile production technology, in fact, American automobile technology is not weak. For example, Ford's Ecoboost series engines have won many awards in Ward's Top Ten Engine Awards for several years in a row. The speed of winning the prize is already very slow. So when it comes to American automobile engine technology, we are not qualified to judge at will. Of course, from an objective point of view, American cars are still not as frugal as Japanese cars in terms of fuel consumption.
