Crossing Kanto —— Forever Homesickness of Northeastern People
One day in late April, Mr. Fan, Secretary General of dehui city Local Culture Research Association, sent me an invitation. The seminar will go to Caiyuanzi Town, dehui city on the 29th of this month to collect old objects, and an annual meeting of the seminar will also be held. As a lover of humanities and history, old objects and buildings have been my very interested field for many years (dare not say research). It happened to be a holiday, and I readily promised to accompany it.
April 29th is a sunny day. At about 8: 30 in the morning, 17 and his party happily drove to Dapaoxiu Village, Caiyuanzi Town. Along the way, I had a very speculative chat with President Dehui No.10 Middle School, Mr. Wang, a famous cultural scholar in dehui city, Yang, a famous peasant poet in dehui city, and the driver's brother. I talked about local culture and other human and historical issues, but also ignored the fatigue along the way.
After getting off the expressway, I drove straight to Caiyuanzi Town, which is known as the "hometown of tomatoes in Jilin". According to Brother Ren, the name "Garden" originated in Guangxu period, and a family named Ding opened a garden here to grow vegetables, which was called Ding Jiayuan. After the completion of the Middle East Railway, a station was set up here, named after Dingjia Vegetable Garden (now Yaojia Station). "
Talking about the cultural history, local conditions and customs related to the vegetable garden, the driver's eldest brother actually mentioned it, and I realized that this eldest brother is definitely not a loafer. Later, I learned that the driver was the owner of our destination. The director of the first Kanto local cultural park in dehui city, which mainly collects old objects, is Xiao He's eldest brother.
Out of Caiyuanzi Town, we walked south along the newly built cement road, and gradually, we drove into the agricultural area dominated by rice fields. New rice fields and long ditches can be seen everywhere. I think if it is June and July, it must be an intoxicating sight of wind and grass and wide rice waves.
Dapaoxiu Village is located on the south bank of Songhua River. On the cement road next to the village, the long Songhua River Dam is faintly visible. After less than an hour's driving, our SUV stopped in a spacious courtyard facing south in the village.
At the beginning of getting off the bus, a barn on the east side of the yard without doors and external walls first attracted everyone's attention, and many familiar old objects first came into view here.
We don't have time to get excited. Let's go outside the yard and have a look at the gate of oriental characteristics.
The gate is decorated with pine bark. As the cultural park is newly established, there is no plaque on the gate, but a piece of red silk cloth is temporarily put on, which is printed with the words "Braving the Guandong Folk Culture Park". On the west side of the yard, an old pulley and a wicker jar made of pure wicker are waiting for us to visit.

Driven by interests, people have already opened the iron fence and entered the barn. The objects in the warehouse are mainly old farm tools, with limited space and many objects. Therefore, floors, walls and even roofs have been fully utilized, thus making the warehouse a three-dimensional exhibition hall.
All kinds of farm tools can be used for farming, harvesting, transportation and storage. We put ourselves in it and began to have interesting zero-distance contact with these farm tools which are closely related to our past farming life.
Among the three warehouses that are not very spacious, the most striking one is a suspended Hua Lun carriage on the south side.
Wheeled vehicle is an ancient vehicle type. Wheels are mostly made of solid birch or oak. Eighteen arm-width spokes are evenly distributed on the hub and radially connected to the hub rim (wooden wheel). Iron sheets are installed on the outside of the rim, and many "mushroom nails" slightly larger than copper coins can be seen on the outside of the wheel.
Axles are also made of wood, bowls are thick, and lubricating oil (called engine oil) is needed for driving. Seeing this car, I can't help thinking that the number of wooden unicycles in the pre-Qin period was an important yardstick to measure a country's military strength.
"Riding country" was synonymous with a powerful country at that time. Reminds me of the allusion of "paving wheels in a car" (a carriage with fragrant leaves wrapped around its wheels can reduce bumps). In this way, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty recruited Mei Cheng and other elderly social sages. Although his thirst for talents is quite commendable, after all, Meicheng is old, and this primitive shock absorption has not brought him any comfort in the car. He died before he got to Chang 'an.
Lu Hua road car
On one side of the boat, Qian Fan is racing; The head of the sick tree is the spring rain every year. Although Hua Lun car embodies the craftsman spirit of China, an ancient big country, and is the high condensation of the collective wisdom and hard work of the working people for thousands of years, it is a backward productivity compared with later rubber-tyred cars.
Interestingly, Xiao and Big Brother, who are in charge of the park, plan to put a trolley with rubber wheels next to it. The sharp contrast between the old and new modes of production is the handover and inheritance of human ability to conquer nature, and the trajectory and inevitable trend of social progress and development are obvious to people at a glance.
On the north side of the wheeled cart, an old unicycle also attracted great interest. Different from today's common unicycle, its body, including wheels, is made of wood, and years of dust have already made it lose its proud luster.
Wooden unicycle is an important symbol of 100 years ago. Anyone who knows a little about the local history of Northeast China knows that Northeast China was originally the hometown of Manchu and other nomadic peoples. During the Shunzhi period in the early Qing Dynasty, in order to protect the Manchu's "land of Longxing", the wicker border was built.
However, in order to make a living, people have been breaking the ban and making a living in Kanto.
Many villages in Northeast China were established by the Han people in Guanli who came to Guandong thousands of miles during the Qianlong and Jiaqing years. Most of them are affected farmers in Hebei and Shandong provinces. Because of poverty, they often use this unicycle to carry all their belongings, bring their wives and belts, and embark on the journey of "crossing the Kanto" with their own desires.
After they came all the way to the land of Kanto, relying on a pair of hard-working hands, they reclaimed land and occupied grasslands, from living in stables to shacks to comfortable houses, from poverty and hardship to prosperity and stability, and sprinkled their enthusiasm and sweat on this hot land of Kanto, writing a magnificent and tragic history of northeast immigrants.
Future generations, we can live a comfortable life today. When we think of our ancestors, we should always be awed and grateful.

There are well-preserved plowshares, chaff-removing windmills, grain storage sheds, grain measuring buckets, saddle stirrups, old-fashioned seeders, waterwheels, spinning wheels, grain pulling knives, etc.
In the next room, the daily necessities of the old farmer are displayed. Whether it is sewing thread boards and socks soles, or pancakes, large and small copper pots, exquisite kang tables, leather sandals, straw hats, pipe sticks, fake stools, bamboo tubes, etc. All the old objects closely related to people's food, clothing, housing and transportation are on display.
Ancient bellows, abandoned braziers, lighting lamps, ancient clocks and watches, etc. Constantly arouse people's strong interest.
When I was in the exhibition hall dedicated to carpenter's tools, I saw a series of genealogical books about the Haiyang Stone Man family. Through talking with Ren, I learned that Ren was originally from Haiyang County, dengzhou city, Shandong Province, and his ancestral home was Rongcheng, a neighboring county, which further narrowed the distance between us two people who love local culture.
Our common ancestral home, common homesickness and strong sense of home make two strangers who should not know each other even if they meet in the vast sea of people begin to meet on this sunny spring day.
Looking at the dusty old objects in the humble exhibition hall, I was deeply touched.
In the long history, they are the masters of our economic and cultural life, and they have been injected with incomparable charm.
Now, they are almost forgotten. They have no choice but to sleep quietly here, expecting a new call of some kind of power. I know that as long as our homesickness is still there, today we will reactivate them with some kind of local complex.
After the visit, I walked around the village alone. From east to west, I visited several remaining thatched houses, crossed a long aqueduct, crossed a tall haystack, crossed a white greenhouse for cultivating rice seedlings, and unconsciously reached the westernmost part of the village.
Looking around, the sky is high and the clouds are light, and everything is silent. In the distance, an agricultural tractor is turning the ground in an orderly way. A southwest wind blew slowly. This is a warm spring.
