Kuala Lumpur transit guide, transit visa, transit visa-free, which one should you choose?
2. You must leave by air (plane) within 12 hours and have relevant certificates (air tickets). One of the inbound and outbound air tickets must be Malaysia Airlines/AirAsia, and other low-cost flights are at risk of being refused visas. If the inbound and outbound joint flight tickets are all Malaysia Airlines/AirAsia tickets, they will not.
3. The passport must be valid for more than 6 months at the time of application.
4. You must have a confirmed endurance ticket to the third/next country, any country except the first country and Malaysia, for example, the itinerary is: Singapore → Kuala Lumpur → Singapore. In this case, you cannot apply for a Malaysian transit visa.
5. When entering Malaysia, you need to show your third country visa (such as visa-free or visa-on-arrival country) and your air ticket to that country (printed).
Precautions
1. In principle, you are only allowed to stay in Kuala Lumpur, but since there is no border inspection in West Malaysia, there is no serious problem in going to all parts of West Malaysia during the transit signing. However, there is a risk of being refused entry to East Malaysia from West Malaysia with a transit visa. If you want to enter East Malaysia from West Malaysia, it is recommended to apply for a Malaysian visa.
2. Those who have not used Malaysian visas are at risk of being rejected when applying for transit visas. If entering Malaysia for the first time is a short transit, and you need to stay in Malaysia for more than 12 hours for the second time, it is recommended to apply for multiple visas to Malaysia instead of applying for a transit visa with a Malaysian visa.
Three-step processing flow of transit visa in Malaysia
Step 1: Fill in the Malaysian white card;
Generally, a white card will be issued to you by the flight attendant on the plane, including the entry form, exit form and customs declaration form and signed (the visa officer who applies for a transit visa will check the exit form). On the front of the white card, the entry purpose column should be filled with "transit"!
(Entry Form)
Step 2: Find the counter in landing visa;
When you get off the plane, take the elevator with the crowd to the arrival hall on the second floor, and find the counter of VISA ON ARRIVAL in landing visa (visa on arrival and transit permit can be processed here); The red sign in the picture below is the bank counter for changing money, and the black sign on the right is the visa on arrival counter. The toilet is on the right. Opposite these two counters is the customs.
step 3: submit the information;
get the form you just filled in and the ticket order you printed in advance (the ticket leaving Malaysia) ready, tell the staff about transit visa, and then wait for the staff to stamp and return the passport. The whole process takes a short time.
Tip: There are many detailed rules for the transit visa. Whether to grant the visa-free transit visa is only decided by the Malaysian Immigration Bureau (on-site staff). Even if passengers meet all the above requirements, they may be refused the visa. Therefore, if you have time, it is recommended to apply for a Malaysian visa before departure.
1. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Low Cost Airport (LCCT), Penang Bayan Lepas Airport, Senai Airport, Kota Kinabalu Airport, Kuching Airport and ports where international cruise ships call;
2. The above measures are not applicable to tourists who transit Malaysia by land from Thailand and Singapore;
3. Those who enter Malaysia by plane or international cruise from China, and then transit to a third country (such as Thailand and Singapore) by land, or who arrive in Malaysia by land from a third country (such as Thailand and Singapore) and then transfer to Taiwan, do not apply for the above-mentioned free transit visa measures. They must apply for a Malaysian entry visa in advance before they can transit Malaysia by land.
