Wei Chu is an autonomous prefecture under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, not any other city.

Wei Chu is located in north-central Yunnan, with a land span of 2413 ′ ~ 26 30 ′ north latitude and 0/00 43 ′ ~102 32 ′ east longitude. It belongs to the main part of the western Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the central Yunnan Plateau, and has been "provincial wall barrier, central Yunnan corridor and Sichuan-Yunnan corridor" since ancient times.

Historical evolution:

1958 On April 15, Wei Chu was formally established. On the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yanxing County entered Guangtong County. In the same year, Chuxiong, Nanhua, Mouding and Shuangbai merged into Chuxiong County, Yaoan, Dayao, Yanfeng and Yongren merged into Dayao County, Roots, Lufeng and Guangtong merged into Lufeng City, Wuding and Yuanmou merged into Wuding County, and Fumin County was placed under Kunming City.

1September 1983 Chuxiong County was changed to Chuxiong City,1June 1983 Luquan County was transferred to Kunming City. At this point, Chuxiong Prefecture has formed a market structure of Shuangbai, Mouding, Nanhua, Yao 'an, Dayao, Yongren, Yuanmou, Wuding, Lufeng * * *, 1.
