Tzu Chi volunteers help more than 20 million people every year with their own pockets and never stop.

In Jiangsu, Anhui, Gansu, Guizhou, Fujian, Guangdong and other 27 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, various charity work has been carried out, and people's livelihood materials have been distributed to the people in flood, snowstorm and earthquake-stricken areas, new villages, nursing homes, welfare homes and hope primary and secondary schools have been built, scholarships have been provided to help build water cellars, and food, clothes and quilts have been distributed in winter.

On May 12, 2008, a strong earthquake struck Wenchuan. On May 14, Tzu Chi volunteers rushed to the disaster area. Tzu Chi mobilized medical teams to participate in free clinics, visit villagers and protect their lives and health.

Tzu Chi's post-earthquake reconstruction in Sichuan will be carried out in four years and three stages, with the spirit of "doing it first, then doing it" to help the victims rebuild their homes. In the planning of permanent housing and campus reconstruction, it is necessary to help the disaster-stricken areas to build simple classrooms and temples that can be used for more than three years, and provide a shelter from the wind and rain, cold and summer, so that the victims can settle down temporarily, buffer the learning environment of students, and urge the victims to get out of the haze and regain their vitality. Then Tzu Chi will invest in Project Hope. At present, 13 schools have started or are being planned.

2. Medical ambition

Master Yan Zheng thought of compassion, and found himself poor due to illness in his charity work. At first, he set up a free clinic for the poor, and later he founded a hospital. More than ten years' experience in poverty alleviation has taught me that "disease is the root of pain and the origin of poverty", and relief work can only treat the symptoms, and "preventing poverty and stopping diseases" is the fundamental way. Therefore, with compassion, I once again shouldered the heavy burden and vowed to build a hospital for the people of Dongtai Bay Province who lack medical facilities, taking patients as the center, promoting the vision of "people-oriented, respecting life" and improving the medical level in East Taiwan Province.

Based on the concept of life equality, Tzu Chi does not accept medical deposit, so that the poor can get medical treatment free of charge, and Tzu Chi International Medical Association (Tzuchi International Medical Association; At present, there are 58 strongholds and more than 7,000 medical professional volunteers in1/kloc-0 countries around the world, forming an organized and systematic global medical service network.

In the Sichuan earthquake, many Tzu Chi volunteers went to the free clinic. They are all medical staff of Tzu Chi Hospital and members of the International People's Medical Association. Volunteers of the People's Medical Association usually take care of poor patients in their places of residence and provide general free clinic services including surgery. If there is an international disaster, they will also cooperate with Tzu Chi's disaster relief operations and carry out medical rescue work. At the same time, Tzu Chi's Association for the Disabled has performed surgery for cataract patients, hoping that Tzu Chi's medical love can help the suffering patients get better services. Tzu Chi has also established child-friendly centers in Ningxia, Hunan, Henan, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangdong to strengthen care for women and children.

3. Bone marrow donation

In Buddhist classics, giving one's body to those in urgent need is called the highest charity; Donating bone marrow is the best way to donate. At present, many people in Taiwan Province Province volunteer to donate bone marrow. Their selfless charity has benefited the compatriots on the other side and achieved the great love of life.

In response to Master Yan Zheng's call, Tzu Chi volunteers at home and abroad fight for the right to life for patients with hematological diseases all over the world. 1993 Tzu Chi Foundation bone marrow donor Information Center was established. In 2002, it was transformed into a Tzu Chi bone marrow stem cell center, transplanting umbilical cord blood and peripheral blood stem cells, hoping to bring new prospects to human medical care. With the full advocacy and enthusiastic participation of Tzu Chi volunteers, many well-intentioned people joined the blood test in bone marrow donor. In each case, Tzu Chi volunteers offered advice, donated, accompanied, extracted and extracted bone marrow. The marrow margin of the course shows the high density of love in Taiwan Province Province. Bone marrow transplantation can cure dozens of diseases that were previously considered incurable, especially leukemia and other malignant tumors in the blood system. Because of the strict requirements of immunology on tissue matching, bone marrow transplantation is mostly provided by compatriots. If there are no siblings with the same matching, we can only find suitable donors from tens of thousands of unrelated people. In recent years, with the increase of only-child families, it is more urgent to establish a large number of bone marrow databases.

On April 1997 and 18, a teenager named Liu in Anhui was diagnosed with leukemia, and a donor was found through Tzu Chi's bone marrow database. Since then, the bone marrow margin of both sides has continued. Based on the concepts of "respecting life" and "not harming one's own life", Tzu Chi's bone marrow database has more than 3 1 10,000 data by the end of 2008, and has completed the matching of 180 1 case, with a success rate of over 80%. The recipients are all over the world in 27 countries and regions, including 748 cases in Chinese mainland. Tzu Chi bone marrow donation opens another window of life for patients with hematological diseases in Chinese mainland.

4. Educational ambition

Following the footsteps of charitable medical care, Tzu Chi established Tzu Chi Nursing College on 1989 to train medical talents and solve the employment problem of young girls in the eastern province of Taiwan Province, taking the first step towards education. By July 2000, "complete education" had been completed in kindergartens, primary schools, middle schools, universities and research institutes, and kindergartens and research institutes had been established at home and abroad.

Tzu Chi education takes "compassion and happiness" as its motto and "respecting life and affirming human nature" as its purpose. Taking "moral education, life education and holistic education" as the goal, we attach importance to both professional education and stimulating people's "good abilities". So in school, we should not only teach our studies, but also develop our five educations. It is also necessary to strengthen children's life education and moral education, especially with the promotion of Jingsi language teaching, so that children can learn to pay and learn to be grateful. For example, in the experimental primary school affiliated to Tzu Chi University, excellent students can clean toilets, adhere to the concept of "respecting life and affirming human nature", and cultivate students' warm and polite attitude towards others.

In order to make Tzu Chi's educational concept more practical, it is necessary to promote social and humanistic education around the world. I hope that Tzu Chi's humanities will not only spread in schools, but also blossom and bear fruit in every loving place, and set up humanities promotion courses, intensive classes for children and growth classes for teenagers. In universities, Tzu Chi youth clubs have been organized, and Tzu Chi teachers' clubs have been established in schools at all levels. Thousands of teachers spend their spare time discussing the true meaning of education. What's even more rare is that a group of caring mothers went deep into more than 700 primary schools in Taiwan Province Province, and used their morning self-study time to accompany their children with their "quiet thinking" true love.

Since the flood in 199 1 East China, Tzu Chi has helped 53 schools at all levels in Chinese mainland, and subsidized poor students in Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hubei, Guizhou, Fujian, Guangdong and Shanghai to attend school in the form of grants.

5. International disaster relief

Since 199 1, Tzu Chi has helped 70 countries and regions in international disaster relief. In addition to providing emergency assistance such as food, clothing, seeds and medicines, disaster-stricken countries also provide assistance such as building houses and schools, assisting in the development of water sources and providing free clinics; Although the nursing programs are different, the concept of "respecting life" is the same.

Tzu Chi began to care for Taiwan Province Province and developed into an all-round humanitarian care with an international macro-vision. Tzu Chi's global relief operations span five continents, including Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. In 2003, it was recognized by the United Nations and became the first charity in Taiwan Province Province to join an international non-governmental organization (NGO).
