Why is Bachmut so important?

The important reason of Bachmut is that it is a special transportation hub.

Bakhmut, the logistics line of Ukraine is connected with the city in this direction. This is an important transportation hub, M03 highway passes through here, leading to Slavyansk, and there is also a railway passing through the city.

This means that the occupation of the city and its surrounding areas, especially the road leading to North Donetsk, will help Russia's logistics in the region, thus promoting Slavyansk in the future. At the local level, Ukraine's main supply routes in Soledad and Sevilsk pass near Bakhmut.

The direction to Cray Menaia may be the best choice for Ukrainian troops to advance to LNR. Russia's success in Sevsk will jeopardize these efforts. Even if Sevsk itself is properly supplemented, the loss of Bakhmut will greatly affect the situation in Leidal and give Russia better control over the territory around Bakhmut.

And the supply line to Bo Pasner. However, Seversk is not the only place influenced by Bachmut. Although the city itself is behind the old contact line, this part is used for larger attack plans.
