After bidding farewell to my local classmates in Quzhou, Zhejiang, I drove more than 80 kilometers by myself and went straight to Nianbadu Ancient Town at the junction of Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces.

In 878 AD, the Huang Chao Uprising Army attacked Fujian, which opened an ancient road in the mountains here, and then the station troops and immigrants began here. In the Northern Song Dynasty, there were 44 capitals in southern Zhejiang, and this town ranked 28th. Locals call it "the eight capitals of the year".

The town is very small, with three or four thousand residents and few tourists, and it is particularly quiet in the afternoon. Walking from south to north to Gujing Bridge next to Fengxi, you can see the three characters of "Nianbapu" on the archway towering in the north of the bridge through the windshield, and you will know that Nianbadu ancient town has arrived.

However, why is it "Ba Pu in 2008" on the archway? I guess it may be because the word "nian" is easy to recognize, and this place is the most important commercial port on the waterway from the Northern Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. There are many shops in the town, so the "shop" highlights its prosperity.

The ancient town spreads along the north-south direction of Fengxi, and the southernmost is a homestay called Nianbapu Inn. Go up to the third floor of the inn, open the wooden window, overlook Guzhen Street, and then overlook Xianxialing.

The Millennium Ancient Road of Xianxia gradually became a major trade route in Qing Dynasty. Ships along the Qiantang River loaded with Jiangsu and Zhejiang cloth and daily necessities docked at clear lake Wharf in Jiangshan, then turned to land, and were taken to Fujian and Jiangxi by porters.

Local products from Fujian and Jiangxi will also be shipped to clear lake, Jinjie, Shanghai and Hangzhou. As the first stop and the necessary transportation hub for the transit of goods in the past, the capital has quickly become the most prosperous commercial port at the junction of the three provinces.

In its heyday, shops, restaurants and inns of commercial companies filled the whole street. People walked on their shoulders every day, and businessmen rested at night. Bustling from south to north, it has been rich and lively for hundreds of years.

Now walking in the ancient town, there are not many old brands. A relatively depressed rice mill is changing hands. A closer look shows that its authentic brand name is "Yangji Yicheng Grain Workshop", and the owner spends too much, so he can't take care of it.

In front of a handmade palm leaf shop with no font size, the owner was busy knitting in a dark room. I stared at him for a long time, and he came out. The sunshine in the street was very strong, and he was a little uncomfortable, so he covered it with his hand. I quickly handed ten dollars to him.

He asked me what to buy, and I said nothing, because you have worked hard and let you have a rest. The old man insisted on giving me a small toy and refused it several times before giving up. The old man's name is Chai Fatian. He is over 70 years old. His ancestors also immigrated. Several generations have been engaged in the brown weaving business. Now it can only be used as a tourist product. Few people buy it, and brown is not easy to collect. Business is small. However, when it comes to craftsmanship, the old man is excited again, saying that his materials are good and sufficient, and he has a unique editing method. He also showed me the intangible cultural heritage protection certificate issued by Jiangshan Municipal Bureau of Culture and Broadcasting.

At dinner, I walked into the old Longxing Zhai. I ordered three dishes: celery, dried bean curd, dried bamboo shoots and trotters. Border town is sincere, and every dish is full of weight. Sit down in front of the square table, and ordered half a catty of earth soju, drink slowly. After dinner, the stars moved in the sound of frogs, and the night was already deep. Stumbling, walking alone in the alley of Nianbadu ancient town: the alley is deep and long, with no doors and windows. I picked up the key and knocked on the thick wall.

The next day, I got up and went to the breakfast shop next door to Longxingzhai for breakfast. Soybean milk steamed stuffed bun noodles are very authentic. This breakfast shop is called "Xiao Xu Cuisine", and the natural owner is Xiao Xu, a very quiet girl. There are no guests in the shop yet, and my eyes are wandering aimlessly on the drink rack.

Suddenly, I saw an oil painting bigger than a postcard, which painted the road in the mountains and the wild flowers on the roadside. It's very delicate. I asked Xiao Xu: Did you draw this? She said that last year, a group of northern students came here to sketch and paint oil paintings. They lived for more than half a month and came to the store for breakfast every day, which was given by one of the students when he left.

When I came out of Xiaoxu Food Store and walked to Fengxi, I saw that the windmill jasmine was quietly opening, and five white flowers were spinning in the wind, emitting a faint fragrance.

Due to the special geographical location and frequent wars, garrisons and immigrants in history, it became a "dialect kingdom" and a veritable "people's ancient town" in August, with 9 dialects and 130 surnames. It is said that when several young people in the town stayed in Dandong, Liaoning, they found that the local language was similar to Mandarin in Nianbadu. Finally, they found that "Nianbadu Mandarin" turned out to be "Kanto dialect", and several young people couldn't help crying for joy because they found their hometown that had been lost for hundreds of years outside the customs.

I left Nianbadu ancient town and went to the town outside the ancient town. All I heard was Mandarin. Grocery shops, fruit shops and small towns in the south of the Yangtze River are no different. While driving away from Nianbadu ancient town, my heart is getting closer and closer to Nianbadu ancient town.
