Did Shanghai belong to Jiangsu Province before?

In the first year of the Republic of China (19 12) 1, Songjiang Prefecture and Taicang Prefecture were separated, and Shanghai was directly under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, with jurisdiction over Shanghai, Huating (later renamed Songjiang), Jiading, Baoshan, Chuansha, Nanhui, Fengxian, Jinshan, Qingpu and Chongming 10.

In the third year of the Republic of China (19 14), Jiangsu Province was divided into five roads, among which Shanghai Road was located in Shanghai County and now belongs to Songjiang, Nanhui, Qingpu, Fengxian, Jinshan, Chuansha, Jiading, Baoshan and Chongming counties in Shanghai and Haimen County in Jiangsu Province.

In the Republic of China 16 (1927), on July 7th, Shanghai Special City was established, directly under the central government. Only then was Shanghai established as a municipality directly under the central government. After liberation (1May 27, 949), the Shanghai Municipal People's Government was established.

During the Spring and Autumn Period, Shanghai belonged to the State of Wu. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Shanghai was also called "Shen" because it was the fief of Huang Xie, the king of Chu, who applied for Shen in spring. In the Jin Dynasty, because fishermen invented the fishing gear "Hu" and the place where the river flowed into the sea was called "blasphemy", the lower reaches of Songjiang were called "Hu" and later changed to "Hu", so Shanghai was referred to as "Shanghai" for short.
