Forest distribution in China

China has a vast territory, complex natural climate conditions, a wide variety of plants, rich forest resources and diverse forest types, which have obvious zonal distribution characteristics. From north to south, the main forest types are coniferous forest, mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forest, deciduous broad-leaved forest, evergreen broad-leaved forest, monsoon forest and rainforest, which constitute a rich and colorful forest landscape.

There are five main forest areas with obvious regional characteristics: Northeast Inner Mongolia (37.78 million hectares), Southwest Alpine Forest Area (39 1 1 10,000 hectares), Southeast Hilly Forest Area (53.58 million hectares), Northwest Alpine Forest Area (4.79 million hectares) and Tropical Forest Area (10.3 million hectares).
