Are humans still evolving today?
I often see people asking that humans have evolved for hundreds of thousands of years. Will they continue to evolve in the future? This is a way of saying that there is a vague understanding of species evolution. The first thing to correct is that all species have not experienced hundreds of thousands of years of evolution, but billions of years of evolution, and humans are no exception.
If we say that human beings have experienced hundreds of thousands of years of evolution, we can only say that it took time after humans became humans, that is, after early Homo sapiens. Even early Homo sapiens may have appeared one million years ago.
But these Homo sapiens did not fall from the sky, but evolved from apes, dating back to the human ancestor who parted ways with the ancestors of chimpanzees, a history of 10 million years.
After the separation of the human ancestor Australopithecus and the chimpanzee ancestor Ramapithecus, the human ancestors began to walk out of the jungle and gradually evolved into today's humans; and the descendants of Ramapithecus gradually became today's chimpanzees .
Some people say that chimpanzees have not evolved. This understanding is wrong. The ancestor of chimpanzees, Ramapithecus, was definitely not what chimpanzees are today, and they were not as smart as chimpanzees.
But the chimpanzees were unlucky and did not get the accidental genetic mutation, so today they can only settle scores among the beasts. Before that, humans could trace their origins from primates to the earliest mammals.
By studying the "Chinese Jurassic Mother" fossils unearthed in Liaoning, scientists believe that this mouse-like animal 160 million years ago is the ancestor of mammals, and of course it is also very likely to be the ancestor of humans.
If you go back further, life gradually differentiated into fungi, plants and animals from the earliest cells; and the animal kingdom evolved from single cells to multi-cells, to coelenterates, molluscs, arthropods, From chordates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, to mammals, every step of evolution has the shadow of human evolution.
Therefore, human evolution has gone through a process of billions of years, accompanied by the birth and differentiation of life, and in the process of natural selection and survival of the fittest, it has reached today step by step. Evolution can be interrupted, but it never stops. In the long history, some species could not adapt to the competition for survival and gradually became extinct. Their evolution was interrupted, but the evolution of the surviving species was always on the way.
When ancient humans were born, at least 15 human races had developed, including Homo habilis, Homo erectus, Homo smith, Homo pioneer, and more than 14 races became extinct in cruel competition, including the ones unearthed in Zhoukoudian. Peking Man, they belong to the category of Homo erectus (see picture above).
So we Chinese are not the descendants of Peking Man, but African immigrants.
Modern genetic map research proves that all modern humans in the world originated in Africa.
Research has proven that all humans in the world originated from the genetic mutation of an ancestral mother in Africa 200,000 years ago. These intelligent modern humans in Africa began to migrate to all parts of the world 100,000 years ago.
Scientists have drawn a clear map of the migration routes of modern humans.
In the following tens of thousands of years, 36 clan mothers were born around the world. Gene mitochondrial research revealed that more than 7 billion people in the modern world are descended from these 36 mothers. The world is always changing. In this world, not only the creatures are always evolving, but even the sun, moon, stars, heaven and earth, and everything in it are changing.
But this change is slow. It is difficult to see it in a thousand years, and the change is not big in 10,000 years. But the change in 100,000 years can no longer be ignored.
At that time, the earth was no longer what it is now, and the Big Dipper was not arranged as it is now. Of course, humans were no longer what they are now, including pigs, cats, dogs, chickens, tigers, lions, elephants and dolphins. What it looks like now.
What is certain is that some species will become extinct, some species will flourish, and new species will appear.
I hope it won’t be humans who become extinct.
That’s it, discussion is welcome.
