Characteristics of Northeast Immigrants

Most people who travel to the East come from Shandong and the northeast of China. They all come from different places without Shandong flavor, and may all converge into an accent with their own unique flavors.

Northeast dialect is probably the most distinctive and well-known local dialect among many dialects in China today. When you were in college, if you had one or several students from the Northeast, no matter where you came from, your accent would always have a touch of Northeast flavor intentionally or unintentionally. Especially after being popularized by many comedians in Northeast China, it is estimated that most people in the country can speak a sentence or two in Northeast China.

After these immigrants entered the northeast, they did not gather in all provinces, but scattered all over the northeast. Therefore, although many Shandong people ventured into Kanto, they were scattered all over the northeast and lived together with immigrants from other provinces, forming a situation of "big mixed residence and small settlement". Therefore, under the mutual integration of provincial cultures, a unique northeast accent was finally formed.

In the general survey, it is found that the proportion of Dalian people whose ancestral home is Shandong is as high as 60%. This figure also means that the main population of Dalian during the Dongdu period was composed of Shandong people. Under the influence of Shandong immigrants, it is not surprising that Dalian dialect and Shandong dialect are very similar.
