Nepal is highly dependent on India for many reasons.

Geographical factor

Nepal is located at the southern foot of the Himalayas and the northern end of the South Asian subcontinent, and its territory is surrounded by India on the east, south and west. This special geographical pattern determines that it is bound to be clamped down by India.

Although Nepal is full of mountains, under modern civilization, the role of mountains in maintaining geographical independence has been weakened, but it has not completely disappeared. Although Indian immigrants of Aryan race keep pouring in, they only live in the southern plain, which makes Nepal and India maintain certain ethnic differences. However, these two factors are not enough for Nepal to maintain its independence. After getting rid of British colonial rule, Indian national chauvinism flooded and tried to seek the dominance of the South Asian subcontinent. In this case, after the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), India took Nepal's internal and external power into its own hands and became Nepal's de facto sovereign state. Nepal has become India's backyard, and both internal and external affairs are controlled by India.

Taking advantage of Nepal's lack of access to the sea, India has maintained a state of economic repression against Nepal, that is, frequent economic blockades. Nepal's external traffic living in the inland mountainous areas must also pass through India.

Therefore, Nepal, as a weak mountainous country, coupled with the geographical pattern surrounded by the Indian sector, is still deeply controlled by India and highly dependent on India even if it has independent sovereignty.
