History of Palmeiras Football Club

The beginning of the club

Palmeiras Football Club was founded by four Italian immigrants from the Italian-speaking area of Sao Paulo, namely Luigi Cervo, Vicenzo Ragone, Luigi Emmanuel Masso and Ezechil Simone. At first, this club was called Italian Sports Club. It turns out that the club represents the same color as the Italian flag (red, white and green). The name of the club was changed to today's Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras during World War II; Because Brazil supported the Allies, the government asked the team to remove the Italy-related signs. The original P shield is still in today's team emblem, and Palpa sometimes uses red as the second visiting team jersey color. (usually used in friendly matches)

Other teams with the words "enemy country" in their names (such as Germany and Italy) were asked to be removed or renamed. Another famous team, Cruzeiro Football Club, used to be called Palestra Italia, but later it had to be renamed.

20 th century champion team

Pamela is regarded by Brazilian media as the best team in the 20th century. PaCO team won more than 10 domestic champions, 23 regional champions and more than 10 international cups, including 195 1 Rio Cup, 1 Liberator Cup and 1 MERCOSUR Cup.

It has been confirmed by Sao Paulo Football Association and many domestic media in Brazil that no team in Brazil has won more championships than Pamela.

Rio Cup

195 1, Pamela won the first international championship in the team's history-Rio Cup. The Brazilian Football Association recognizes that the Rio Cup is the world's first inter-club championship final, but FIFA has reservations about it. They believe that further verification is needed. 195 1 Rio Cup Pa defeated Juventus in Serie A. ..

South American Libertadores Cup champion

Pamela won the most important trophy in the team's history-the Libertadores Cup in South America under the leadership of the famous coach Scarali. In the 1999 Libertadores Cup final, Parma defeated a team from La Coruna, Colombia. The two teams won by 1 point at their respective home courts, and finally Pa won PK by 4-3. Famous players at that time included the starting goalkeepers Marcos and Alex, Eiffel and Paulo Nunes of Brazil in the 2002 World Cup.

Sometimes good and sometimes bad; Ups and downs

Even though the history of meras is intriguing, their performance is quite ups and downs, and the team often hovers between victory and failure. In the 1960s and early 1970s, the club won many trophies, defeated the Libertadores Cup many times, and won two Brazilian national football leagues (72 and 73). Then the team didn't get any important trophies in the following 15 years, until 1992, when the club signed an eight-year sponsorship contract with Parma in Serie A. As a result, Pamela became the richest team in Brazil. During the sponsorship of Palma, Pamela won two Brazilian national league titles (93 and 94), Brazil Cup (98), Southern Common Market Cup (98) and Libertadores Cup (99). This is the era when Brazil won the most trophies since the 5 1 Rio Cup and the 1970s.

Sponsorship from Italy officially ended in 2000, which also put the club in trouble. 200 1, the semi-final defeat of the Libertadores Cup was followed by the terrible 2002 season. The club has been severely downgraded and can only participate in the second division of the Brazilian national football league. However, in the following year, Paco stopped falling and rebounded. In the second division, Paco was far ahead of the second-ranked Botafogo by 16. In 2004, Paco returned to the first division. After that, he even qualified for the Liberator Cup.
