Chongqing is an important central city in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The Yangtze River runs through the entire territory of Chongqing, with a length of 691 kilometers. From ancient times to the present, Chongqing on the Yangtze River has given birth to the splendid Bayu culture, revolutionary culture, Three Gorges culture, immigration culture, Anti-Japanese War culture, etc. Looking to the future, Chongqing plays an important role in the construction of the Yangtze River Basin Economic Belt and the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and will play a greater role.

When I first arrived in Chongqing, the city gave people a strange and magnificent feeling. The two rivers converge, the urban layout is stacked on the mountains, the light rail passes through the buildings, the yellow jujube trees have strange postures, the hot pot is spicy and domineering... For first-time visitors, Chongqing is unique in many aspects and full of surprises.

At the China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing (Chongqing Museum), the exhibition presents the rich cultural resources of the Yangtze River. Walking into the first exhibition hall "Magnificent Three Gorges", one feels the shock of the power of the Yangtze River.

The entrance is directly opposite the famous Yanli Stones, and a row of waterfall stones stands along the wall on the left side. On the edge of Kuimen, where "the sky opens with a line and the gorge opens with a gate", it is formed by the beating and erosion of the river all year round. Because its shape is like a falling waterfall, it is called waterfall stone. The waterfall stone here in the museum was salvaged and cut before the Three Gorges Reservoir was impounded. Standing in front of the waterfall stone, it seems that you can appreciate the waves of the Yangtze River and the changes in human affairs in ancient and modern times, which makes people full of emotions.

Chongqing has always been a regional political and military center in history. After the official opening of the port in 1891, Chongqing became the starting point of the main east-west trade route of the Yangtze River and the distribution center for commodities on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. With economic prosperity, Chongqing has embarked on a new path of urban development.
