If mainlanders who are currently working or studying in Hong Kong apply, they must first return to the Mainland to apply for a permit to travel to and from Hong Kong and Macao and make an appropriate endorsement in Hong Kong before they can come to work in Hong Kong under the Admission of Mainland Talents Scheme.

4. Employees who are generally allowed to come to Hong Kong will be allowed to stay 12 months upon entry. If they still meet the eligibility requirements of the scheme after coming to Hong Kong, they will be allowed to extend their stay.
