What kinds of Solomon Islands aboriginal songs are there?
The sad lullaby is a world-famous lullaby. During the period of 1969- 1970, Hugo Zemp, a UNESCO expert and ethnomusicologist, recorded some local songs, which appeared on LP published by 1973 as part of UNESCO's music resource collection. One of the songs is "The Lullaby of Rorogvela", which was sung by Afunakwa, the old mother of the Baggu people in Solomon Islands. Later, it was used by the French world music group Deep Forest as a single in the album Deep Forest released by 1992, which caused a worldwide sensation. The theme of this song is a child crying because he can't see his parents. My brother sang this song to comfort him and told him that his parents had died, but he was always there to protect him.
