Austria is a well-known country and many people want to visit it. In fact, it is not difficult to go to Austria. Here is a brief introduction to the specific process of Austrian visa application and related matters needing attention.

I. Notes on Visa Application

1. Chinese mainland citizens need a visa to go to Austria.

2. HKSAR passport holders may enter Austria visa-free for a maximum stay of no more than 3 months.

3. Austria has set up three visa application centers in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to collect visa applications, visa fees and agency fees (the agency fee is RMB 250 yuan per person).

4. The visa application form is submitted by the applicant himself. If the applicant once held a Schengen visa, he can entrust others to submit the required application materials. In this case, the applicant needs to sign the power of attorney, and the trustee should submit it together with a copy of his ID card and the power of attorney.

5. Austria is a Schengen country. If China citizens only go to Austria, they can apply for a visa in embassies and consulates in China. If you go to more than one Schengen agreement country at the same time, you should apply to the member country with the longest stay; The first country to apply for under the condition of the same stay time. Please consult embassies and consulates in China for details of applying for an Austrian visa;

6. Entry visa: The Austrian side issues entry visas with corresponding validity and duration of stay according to the application;

Two. Materials needed to apply for a visa

1. Basic materials

1) The application form filled in capital letters is complete, leaving no blank items, and the content is true. The applicant himself signs in two designated places (minors must be signed by their legal guardians).

2) Two recent photos (color photos, about 3.5x4.5cm, with white background).

3) Original passport and copies of the first and last pages of the passport (signed by the applicant) and visa pages.

4) Valid passport: The passport is valid for at least 90 days after the visa expires.

5) Travel accident medical rescue insurance, with a minimum guarantee of not less than 30,000 euros per person.

6) When the applicant can't prove enough personal assets, an electronic guarantee (EVE) from the Austrian inviter is required. The Austrian inviter only needs to sign a letter of guarantee at the foreign affairs police station where he/she lives, and the foreign affairs police station will verify the information of the inviter, and then forward it to the Austrian embassies and consulates abroad that accept the applicant's visa. There is no charge for electronic guarantee.

2. Long-term (D) visa

1) China citizens who stay in Austria for more than 6 months can apply for residence visas at the embassy.

2) Visa application must be submitted in person (not by mail). Only when the applicant is incompetent can he entrust a legally effective person to submit it.

3) The embassy forwards the visa application to the domestic visa processing department.

4) It takes several months to apply for residence visa approval.

5) Materials required for residence visa

(1) Original and photocopy of valid passport.

(2) Birth certificate (or materials with the same value).

(3) Local legally valid accommodation certificate (such as rental contract).

(4) Proof of accident, medical and rescue insurance valid in Austria.

Remarks:

L All notarial certificates that need to be submitted must be certified by the corresponding Ministry of Foreign Affairs before they can be certified by the Austrian Embassy. The certification fee is 30 euros each.

7) study visa

This reservation is only valid for the Austrian Embassy in China, and the Austrian Consulate General in Shanghai cannot make an online reservation. Applicants in Guangzhou can submit their application materials directly to the visa application center during the opening hours without making an appointment in advance. Reservations in Shanghai will be made by the Shanghai Visa Application Center.
