In the winter of 1962, China had just emerged from the three-year difficult period, and Sino-Soviet relations began to become tense again. Articles were published continuously in its newspapers and periodicals attacking the Communist Party of China. Some Chinese media also published articles one after another to fight back.

At the end of the same year, Guo Moruo filled in the word "Man Jiang Hong" to express the Chinese people's belief in victory in the face of anti-China forces, unite as one, and persevere in the struggle. At the same time, he also praised Mao Zedong and the Chinese people with strong Mao Zedong Thoughts. . Mao Zedong composed this poem immediately after reading it.
