What conditions are needed to ensure that the whole family immigrates to Canada?

You can sponsor your spouse, partner or dependent children to immigrate to Canada under the following circumstances:

1, you have reached the age of 18;

2. You are a Canadian citizen/permanent resident of Canada/a person registered as an Indian in Canada under the Canadian Indian Act;

If you are a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, you must indicate your intention to live in Canada when the sponsor becomes a permanent resident.

If you are a permanent resident living outside Canada, you cannot vouch for others.

3. You have the ability to prove that you didn't get social assistance for reasons other than disability;

You can provide the basic needs of anyone you want to sponsor.

If you live outside Quebec:

To be a guarantor, you must ensure that you will take care of your guarantor financially for a period of time.

This is called commitment, which makes you:

1. Provide financial support to your sponsored family members from the moment they become permanent residents.

2. Repay any provincial social assistance received by your sponsored family members during this period.

Similarly, you and your family members need to agree to assume certain responsibilities during the commitment period.

This is called a sponsorship agreement, which means:

1. You will meet the basic needs of the sponsored family members.

The people you sponsor will do their best to support themselves and their families.

Note: When applying, you must fill in and sign a form containing a letter of commitment and a sponsorship agreement.

Income requirements:

In most cases, you don't need income to support your spouse, partner or dependent children.

In the following cases, you only need to prove that you have enough money to meet your income requirements (one of the following is true):

1. You are funding a dependent child with one or more of your own dependent children;

2. Your sponsored spouse or partner has a dependent child, and his dependent child has one or more children of his own.

Note: the instructions in the financial evaluation form will tell you how much money you need and how to fill it out.

If you live in Quebec:

1. After being approved as a guarantor by Quebec Immigration Department, you must meet Quebec's immigration guarantee requirements. You must sign a letter of commitment with Quebec.

2. The Quebec Immigration Bureau will evaluate your income.
