Which city do you think is more livable, Suzhou or Chengdu?
A metropolis means more opportunities, rich urban experience and more secure medical, educational and cultural facilities. At the same time, there are also many streets and historical and cultural experiences with fireworks. However, when I was very young, my grandmother's old house, old neighborhood and old Chengdu could never go back, leaving only sporadic historical blocks mixed with truth and falsehood. But most cities have them. Four or five years after graduating from college, many high school students choose to go back to Chengdu. Chengdu, a nice, delicious and fun big city close to home, should be a good choice.
Suzhou is a "small city". When I first came to Suzhou to go to college, I cried the moment I came out of the old railway station, and I felt like I was back in the 1980s. In the first few years of college, I was resistant to Suzhou. I just want to finish my studies and go back early. Even if it is so close to Shanghai, it is completely two worlds. Compared with the school canteen in Sichuan, the sweet canteen every day is a nightmare. Later, I gradually began to understand Suzhou. This kind of "small city" is actually not small, but the city is built up bit by bit with the times, and traces of its existence can be found in every era. The ancient ginkgo trees in 2000, the Yunyan Temple Pagoda in 1000, the gardens in 100, the bridges, rivers, houses, shopping malls and new villages in the 1980s are very similar to European cities, and they can grow bigger and bigger. Apart from villages and ancient towns, such a complete historical city may be an orphan in China. Even after living for ten years, I still feel that I haven't walked enough and know enough.
Living in the park now is quite comfortable in life. Because I don't work from nine to five, I rarely experience morning and evening rush hours, but I rarely encounter traffic jams in Suzhou, which may be the reason why the urban structure is scattered and the park planning is ahead of schedule. This is very suitable for people who like quiet life and have low desire for rich urban experience. It is also a pleasant thing to have a stable job and live in a city full of lake views.
Of course, as far as air quality is concerned, neither city is good, even worse than the coastal areas. I have lived in Sichuan Basin for nearly twenty years. When I first came to Suzhou, I stared at the sky every day. As far as I remember, the sky is white. Only then did I know that the sky should be blue.
To tell the truth, Chengdu is the only city in the midwest with similar temperament to Suzhou and Hangzhou.
Life is based on economy. As a central city in the west, Chengdu is more like a collection of Shanghai (high-end finance, large central enterprises, top 500 foreign companies and service industries)+Suzhou (high-end manufacturing industry)+Hangzhou (IT, e-commerce and service industries). In contrast, there are all kinds of jobs, but only a super-reduced version of the total opportunities offered by these three cities. Suzhou and the Yangtze River Delta provide more employment opportunities than Chengdu and its surrounding areas because of their marine geographical location and industrial base. From this perspective, no matter whether Suzhou is good or not, someone will go and someone must go.
Life, personal preference for Chengdu.
First, lifestyle, Suzhou and Hangzhou have money and enjoy life. Chengdu is fun whether it has money or not. Chengdu people love to play, so the types of play are very rich, from teahouses, mahjong halls, nightclubs, farmhouses to various performances. Compared with Suzhou, the quantity is too much. Of course, Starbucks has a little petty bourgeoisie, and Suzhou and Hangzhou seem to have more. There are also many scenic spots around. At the intersection of Tibet, Yi, Qiang and Han, drive 100 kilometers to experience the pure Qiang and Tibetan culture. The climate is around 30 degrees north latitude, and the general direction is similar, but Chengdu is indeed colder than Suzhou in the east, and there is no high temperature in summer.
Second, the cost problem. If the locals don't work in these two cities, Chengdu will be relatively easy to survive. After all, the house price is low.
The third is the sense of integration. Chengdu people and even Sichuan people are all formed by immigrants and will not be exclusive. People from other provinces will feel it if they live for a long time.
Fourth, medical care and education. Now the college entrance examination is a provincial competition. Jiangsu is a big education province, while Suzhou is not ranked in the top. Chengdu (plus Mianyang) almost monopolized the high-end candidates in Sichuan Province. Huaxi Hospital in Chengdu is a monopoly winner compared with Suzhou Hospital, but it would be better if Suzhou people can go to Shanghai Hospital for reimbursement in the same city.
In the end, Su Rong and his wife moved away. Jiangnan people with higher education will not choose Chengdu, and Sichuan-Chongqing-Yunnan-Guizhou will basically not choose Suzhou as a first-tier city+Chengdu-Chongqing to consider. If you work in a factory, Chengdu's industry can't provide enough jobs, and there should be more people going to Suzhou.
In fact, Suzhou should be compared with Hangzhou and Nanjing. Su Hangning is a natural opponent because of its geographical location. Shanghai now has almost all high-end industries. With the digital economy, Hangzhou has embarked on a new high-end industry, bringing a large number of high-income opportunities and talents. The jobs brought by large central enterprises and regional centers in Nanjing are also relatively high-end. On the other hand, Suzhou's economic transformation continues. Suzhou relies too much on Shanghai, which determines that the lower limit of Suzhou is not low, but Shanghai also determines that the upper limit of Suzhou is not high.
Generally speaking, life in Chengdu is still good, but the reality is that the opportunities offered by Suzhou have to be taken.
